On the basis that it was obviously a joke. I know neither poster personally but it was hardly a well fleshed out psychological diagnosis was it? No, that's probably the global pandemic, you might have heard of it. With everyone working from home, and some working from a hospital bed it's kind of inevitable. The player base however is growing very nicely.

Read my other post. There was loads of content missing long before covid was a thing. Nice try using it as an excuse though.

In other words, you're willing to give someone who resorts to targeted insults a free pass due to the assumption that it is supposedly just a joke but are entirely unwilling to give someone else the benefit of the doubt when they poke fun with a meme at the expense of a vocal portion of the player base with no specific individuals singled out? is that correct or am I missing something here?

This whole side of the argument started because I fired back, with a very tame joke. I wasn't offended by what he said, I just pointed out it wasn't exactly the wholesome brady bunch stuff people are making it out to be.

There's clearly more opposed to it than in favor of it. As it stands now, XIV's PvP is incredibly simplistic in the name of "balance," but still manages to flounder in that regard. Their current PvP gets so little attention and work put into it, that I'm already skeptical of whatever else they supposedly came up with that's intended to replace Feast. Beyond that, I suspect there will be another long lull of nothing for PvP (as they do whenever they release a new Frontlines map/mode); they've gone from like 3, to 2, to just 1 PvP gear set per expansion.

Not that I can blame them for wanting to move away from it. I've seen enough of the Live Letters on Twitch or whatever to see how a majority of the playerbase feels about their PvP; every time a slide with PvP even mentioned shows up, the chatbox is unceremoniously spammed with apathetic-looking emotes (I think it's referred to as "I sleep?," might have changed now). Their PvP is also so highly reliant on players fighting as a pack; I have a hard time imagining how rewarding it would feel to always have to travel as a group. It's bad enough trying to herd cats teams in Frontlines to accomplish anything.

Netcode, balance, and lack of rewards (and development time) aside, I theorize that a big problem with their PvP is that they design it with JP in mind, not NA/EU players. There's a stark contrast with how JP behave in Frontlines and how NA/EU want to behave. As a result, it's largely a more frustrating experience and not to the liking of majority of the players here.

I disagree. I don't think that is what happened at all and that this is indeed a case of moving goalposts. I'm also not 'offended', though I suppose the suggestion is in itself another example of certain posters attributing false intent to other forum participants.

This forum is in itself not a good representation of the wants of the playerbase as a whole, to say nothing of the fact that the original post would perhaps be better served being moved over to the PvP sub-forum. Still, eight likes is a respectable amount given that the thread hasn't even been up for an entire twenty four hour period yet. We also know that the development team are not at all opposed to putting niche content out there for players to engage with.

OP wants PVP to specifically get "revenge" or "punish" people they disagree with.

if we were all against PVP so much we wouldn't be playing a game with (admittedly really bad) PVP in it in any way.
I have played the PVP games, I enjoy PVP in the right context. The right context being voluntary engagement and participation.

All the things I personally would accept for PVP: Flagging to initiate, having it's own server, very limited area, do not work for what OP wants because the people they wish to kill won't be there or will be prepared to defend themselves or will be untargetable.


Is that clear enough a position or are we strawmanning the everliving heck out of everyone who's posted in this thread still?

Clearly you’re offended in some capacity. You went to the lengths of lying and saying he was insulting someone and that no insults were thrown around until he supposedly insulted someone. He then gave proof of someone else spouting an insult and you tried to move goalposts by saying it was clearly a “joke.” Keep getting caught in all these lies lady. How about just try being honest. Also in regards to your dev work comment. I was merely critiquing you on your comment about the game doing better. Can’t really say that’s true when we’ve seen nothing but downgrades in content this expansion. The playerbase growing has more to do with there just not being any good mmo’s atm than there being a good amount of content.

That completely ignores the fact that many of the posts that come after that are opposed to the idea and have more "like"s than the OP if you want to go there. One against it currently has quadruple the amount of likes. By that logic, regardless of the 10 people in favor of it, there's 4 times as many opposed to it.
