I wonder what happened? It seems very mysterious. Also a little bit unprofessional for the dev/story writer to post like that on twitter.

I feel like they may have simply decided that they wanted to shift the focus of the side content in 6.0 onwards somewhere else on short notice; perhaps after the writing/cutscenes for Zadnor had already been finished.

Though it's also possible Matsuno may have got roped into a different project due to executive meddling or some such. I suppose we'll never know unless the man himself says something about it.

I actually wanted Dalmasca to be one of the places we go to in Endwalker, up next to Sharlay or whatever that place is called. Technically also want to go out to the floaty rocks place that we keep seeing in the distance related to the ancient city of Nym.

I was not really a fan of the story-telling in any of the Ivalice-related stuff, with the raids feeling mostly like a huge exposition dump that was largely a retelling of events from FFT/FFXII, and Bozja was just kind of a mess to me in general for multiple reasons, among them Mikoto's pointless Echo visions and the supposed moral ambiguity of the conflict falling flat when Gabranth has several war criminals amongst his ranks.

Tbh there’s always been moral ambiguity among even the protagonist states. What with Uldah still allowing slavery and whatnot. Main point was that Gabranth and his ideals ftmp were actually better for Bozja than what they had before. The exposition dumps had some similarities to ffT and 12, but it wasn’t just completely taken. It was adapted into 14 I wish people would realize how much time it seems Matsuno put into the storyline because he literally was able to tie a major plot point of his story to a major msq presence aka the Garleans. He seems to have actually cared about making sure it was a story everyone could understand, and i have to be honest i kind of find it funny when people complain about exposition dumps, but then they also complain when things aren’t explained clear enough. It’s like what more do you want. Personally i thought it was a pretty good amount of exposition and actual plot. With the exposition i was able to genuinely understand what was going on and feel invested. It’s more than i could say for this expansions msq.

I don’t think it’s very unprofessional tbh. Especially when we see that SE hasn’t even invited him to any livestreams as a guest and instead chose Yoko Taro for it. They just don’t seem to have care about Matsuno or his story. He was just giving info as to why it’s not coming which is better than what SE would do which is keep it under wraps until last minute.

Can someone explain to me why the consensus is that the Bozja story has ended? I did Delriada and just assumed it would pick up in 6.0 again. Did I miss something? I'm genuinely confused. lol

Major bummer.
Ivalice itself kinda made me interested in XIV since XII is my favorite although once I played it , it fell flat.

Mainly due to the characters there for the exception of Ba'gamnan crew and Fran.

Then Bozja hit the jackpot for me in terms of characters and story. Between Cid's memories, bozja lore, the 4th empire lore and even the Eastern alliance lore, it was honestly a nice change of air with MSQ Shadowbringer.
Of course it is not for everyone.

Lyon probably will remain one of my main favorites of XIV and I hope in some way he appears in EW, even mentioned at least.


(And sadly I wished they put the XII version of Gilgamesh in some form magitek/auracite in or the white Chocobo Trickster from the XII Marks, they were pretty memorable to me)

Firstly the field notes dropped several major plot points following the end of the story, including the actual liberation of Dalmasca and possibly-faked death of Gabranth.

Then this exchange happened on Twitter, where Matsuno said the side story was over and the plan for further content has "disappeared".

Those are different complaints, which likely mean different people are voicing them. If they're the same people, they may want a clear explanation without having too much exposition.

Why would you force yourself to do content you don't enjoy? It sounds really really foolish.

One possibility is if it becomes a prerequisite to another content, like the Crystal Tower and Ivalice raids.

Good news, the 6.x Alliance Raids will delve into the mysteries of the Twelve, so we may end up going to those floating rocks as part of an Alliance Raid!
