No, but I'd support an ARR:R.

No efforts spared, big rehauls to make more of a living world, enlarge zones, increase cohesion between them, give far more to do, etc., etc.

I enjoyed 1.x, for what it was worth, and have to wonder if many of its polemicists actually played more than a couple hours of it, but I wouldn't want it back when there are so much more obviously lucrative eras to capitalize upon as a "golden age".

It would be such a gigantic downgrade with how much QoL features and proper UI you'd forfeit, even if you asked for ver 1.23.

The story wasn't particularly anything to write home about; I didn't even find the White Raven segment that engaging, and I swear there was some parts of the story (involving the Garleans, perhaps), that ARR might have even retconned.

At most, I would say seeing the world map, how big it was and how areas were connected and what it used to look like might be amusing (and nostalgic). How the Black Shroud was like a patchwork, lattice-patterned maze, how there were a handful of (mostly pointless, but interesting) "outdoor dungeons," and even what Coerthas was like before it got snowed-over. Mind you, the open-world was largely empty and unfinished (hey, at least they fixed one of those things, right?). There isn't much else a reason to go back to anything in 1.xx era.

I'd rather have it as "Memoria" chapters, annexed to the new game plus feature umbrella where you can revisit the "important" parts of 1.0. You'd be doing some fights here and there and the 1.0 story would be abridged to give you an idea of things that would shape the Eorzea that you know at the start of ARR.

1.X for all its faults pushed the MMO in MMORPG harder, had more depth to the job system (although at the cost of balance), and the overworld had a lot more going for it compared to being a solitaire hub for quests and zerg rushes that might as well be a gigantic lobby room.

Also, the silly excuse was brought up years ago and answered, but people parroting it keep ignoring the responses. Why would anyone bother when everything pointed out to that version being axed and the newer one being heavily marketed instead? There was no motivation and therefore not enough activity.

Downside of playing more of a game you like.

You know, when leveling more than one job doesn't feel "fun" it speaks volumes about the game itself, rather than the requirement existing. This is why no matter who's next in line to quote me and insult me for defending cross-class actions and party composition mattering, I was never in favor of what they did in Stormblood onwards.
Pushed the mmo style so hard the game DIED! Remember that it died. But whatever 1.0 had wasn't good in any sense as guess what. Noone wanted to play it. WoW proved that. 1.0 being hot garbage proved it. The team that made it wasn't up to date on the times and it cost them everything. It's one thing to like what was there, it's another thing entirely to say it pushed anything but death.

Hi, a "fixed" 1.x-version would be nice. I would give a try. But they should not release the original buggy 1.x-version. I have seen some videos on YT. Even the mobs do not attack you because the game is so buggy. You can use your range attacks and you will be safe because the mobs do nothing. You have also huge maps but the assets in those maps are basically copy and paste etc.

    Here is one example:

You wouldn't need to level other classes, you'd have the system for fun and world building reasons with some occasional niche use.

To be honest though, the initial complaint about leveling other classes has pretty much aged out of the game. We're level 80, soon to be level 90, even if they hadn't touched it since ARR it'd be trivial to get what you need these days.

Trivial, yes, but still far from intuitive. Though, I'd argue that's because they didn't go far enough.

For instance, if each class had 1-3 mechanical traits that establish new concerns and/or playflows, and you could cross-class those... that could be really neat. An RDM with Lancer's Momentum trait by which to chain free Corps-a-corps duplications together to assault the enemy backline with virtually no warning? A Monk with Rogue's Decoy trait by which to create a Double of Wind? Ninja packing Mugged items for a flexible mobility/burst GCD via Gunner's Blunderbuss trait? I could dig it. Yes, that'd mean more to balance and would damn near oblige content that goes beyond smacking a cylinder until its attached unsigned number value reaches 0. But I can't say I'd hate that.

Also, I still feel that having job ranks separate from character level, far broader armor classes (merely plate, leather, and cloth), and primary stats that amounted to more than 4 different names for Power and one side of HP, was a far superior concept.

Quite a lot of things happened in 1.0 plot, and introduced most of the base elements of the lore. It just didn't have 36 tons of filler quests.

I appreciate everyone's comments. I didn't know it would take on such a life of its own. I get that the mechanics are so antiquated it would be a huge downgrade. I guess I thought it would be cool to try. Anyway, I would never want them to dedicate too much time/resources to optimizing 1.0 to be playable today.
