You wouldn't need to level other classes, you'd have the system for fun and world building reasons with some occasional niche use.

To be honest though, the initial complaint about leveling other classes has pretty much aged out of the game. We're level 80, soon to be level 90, even if they hadn't touched it since ARR it'd be trivial to get what you need these days.

Trivial, yes, but still far from intuitive. Though, I'd argue that's because they didn't go far enough.

For instance, if each class had 1-3 mechanical traits that establish new concerns and/or playflows, and you could cross-class those... that could be really neat. An RDM with Lancer's Momentum trait by which to chain free Corps-a-corps duplications together to assault the enemy backline with virtually no warning? A Monk with Rogue's Decoy trait by which to create a Double of Wind? Ninja packing Mugged items for a flexible mobility/burst GCD via Gunner's Blunderbuss trait? I could dig it. Yes, that'd mean more to balance and would damn near oblige content that goes beyond smacking a cylinder until its attached unsigned number value reaches 0. But I can't say I'd hate that.

Also, I still feel that having job ranks separate from character level, far broader armor classes (merely plate, leather, and cloth), and primary stats that amounted to more than 4 different names for Power and one side of HP, was a far superior concept.
