RDM is either looked down at for low personal DPS when a run goes smooth, or ignored no matter how many times you raise people when a run goes poorly. There is very little in-between.

If someone looks down on RDMs for low personal dps they either don't understand the job or they have a hate towards them.

Some Paladins use Clemency to proc Devine Vail buuuuuut I am guessing that is not what was occurring here

Do RDMs even do super low personal DPS? Like as an objective thing? I've always thought they did quite a lot of damage, and they have great mobility and versatility.

Or they're simply not up to date.
RDMs dps was 100% absolute trash during the first tier, escpecially before the first buff. They often got out-dpsed by physical ranged and were so far behind SMN and BLM that just by switching to one of the other casters you would at least get 2k free dps at similiar gameplay level. Which was a lot during the first tier.

RDM can easily compete with SMN and is fairly close to BLM now but they started out being among the 3 weakest dps with a huge gap between them and the hard hitters.

I don't know what it is lately with getting Orbonne on raid roulette and people just either instantly leaving or just constantly dying as healer due to not following people for mechanics.

Last night we had two wipes to Cid because a lvl 80 sch didn't bother to use some of the tools in his kit and got his entire party killed to doom, resulting in being unable to salvage the runs. Someone even threw up a vote abandon that didn't thankfully pass, but that caused 3 people to just drop. You have the echo and want to give up? Okay.

Today had a run where both healers dropped out of B the moment the gate dropped, though thankfully we got replacements that while didn't want to do Orbonne, stuck it out anyway. First boss healers in C died far too much and we managed to get 3 lb3s off on him. A and B healers called them out, though someone in C said one was returning and chill. I'm not sure exactly what was being said in their party chat as I was in B, so I can't exactly say much else on them other than C healers kept dying.

Second boss had a C wipe while the other two carried on and tried to get the healers up. Trash boss nearly killed C, and TGC someone dragged Crush weapon through C and killed half their party.

Ultima was a mess, though I got unlucky with Hashmal and died, and her maze intermission I got venn diagramed with aoes and died again. People kept dying to mechanics and I was thinking it might end up in a wipe, but nope, we kept it going long enough to get off 3 lb3 and finally kill her.

All this just for memory clusters. Please SE, increase the drop rates for vexatious and haunting clusters from fates so I can save my sanity. Please D:

My cat killed me in Castrum Fluminis for trials. Shortly after the first Selenomancy resolved. she hit both home and scroll lock. People familiar with those buttons should know exactly what transpired. When I hit scroll lock once more I was still first person, but dead. I didn't even see how I died. I never use home so I had to ask my party and thankfully my cohealer responded quickly, I accepted their raise and we cleared (albeit with a few new dps deaths).

There is no defending against cats, even at my age. They are always one step ahead. Being cute is just a front.

I'll post my own mistakes because hey, if you cant laugh at yourself?

I got one. An old one.

I was paladin in The Chrysalis with some random people, some of them are new. So I explained the fight and wanted to be the MT, since I got the best gear and most experience.
So I started my pull timer. Unfortuneately, my muscle memory/brain was still in the MCH-mode - my main class.

Instead of actually pulling/tanking the boss, I ve activated ALL my defensive buffs (including my fancy hollowed ground macro) and sprint.
So i was sitting there with everything on cooldown, no TP and wiping the group. Just seconds after explaining the whole fight and indirectly calling myself the big leader.

To the healer who was set to queue as filler thank you!
Yes both dps were level 45+ and only the tank 'needed' to be there, but to have the healer bail before we even got rolling...:shakes head:
