That's kind of part of the point. It's a form of encouraging people to buy their other games and play them.

Except it's not going to work on most people. People who have no nostalgia for the old games aren't going to feel a need to go buy dated games. Also, many people just don't like the gameplay in older FF games, they don't like turn based combat, and they aren't interested in dated graphics.


EDIT: If anything, I'd say it's a cheap ploy to use nostalgia to make people like the content. Also, transposing existing content is easier than making completely original stuff.
