I feel for him.

I used to be deeply invested in WoW and there's a lot about the setting that I absolutely adore. It has a lot of rich lore and the selection of playable races and classes is much more to my liking than what FFXIV has on offer - though with the addition of Reaper as of Endwalker, my desired aesthetics are being catered to a little more. (At least where 'edgy' and 'anti-hero' is concerned. I'm still eagerly awaiting some sort of ranger and druid job...)

I began to fall out of love with WoW right around the same time as Cataclysm launched and destroyed the original game world. Due to a lack of options on the market to my tastes, though, I stubbornly stuck it out and it wasn't until the Mists of Pandaria expansion that I took my leave altogether.

It wasn't easy. Years of investment, established friendships, hard earned achievements and money spent had to be left behind. Luckily FFXIV managed to pull me in enough to invest in it on a long term basis.

Though I'm always going to be wary - and keeping an eye out for signs that FFXIV is following the same general trajectory of WoW itself. We're not there just yet, thankfully - though I'd be lying if I said I didn't raise an eyebrow from time to time.
