ah, so your question and thread about parsing was disingenuous, that's good to knowThe reason why folks in this game take WoW Refugee as a bad label, is probably because they, themselves, encountered a few bad eggs that brought their habits into FFXIV. Such as: hostility, name calling, dps judgement, meta gaming. Which thankfully can be reported for!
But most ex-WoW gamers make a large margin of FFXIV already and integrate well!![]()
I say, in order to break the mold of such a boogie man label, people gotta break that stereotype and show that they are as nice as anyone part of FFXIV community <3

I don't think I've ever seen anyone actually in game hate on WoW refugees, I think its mostly from folks on social media sites. And I'm also 90 percent sure that all of those people assume that every WoW player is like Asmongold or something
Dealing with the 14 community is quite easy. If they aren't as good as you or better at the game, then they are redundant and not worth listening to.
So I had to literally look up your post on parsing. It was a legitimate question. Some people have no idea what parsing is. Unless you are part of toxic wow then you won't really know of parsing. To be honest I am super glad it is not here in FFXIV. Because then the whiners would come out the wood works crying that such and such class is doing more damage or that their class is NOT ALWAYS number one on the meters.
Bringing parsing over to FF would just start a whole s**t show of mess. Honestly it is part of a reason I left wow. But in your case Naaura it seems you picked up a troll. Best to just put him/her on ignore and continue to enjoy the forums peacefully. That is the best advice I have for you.
The only time I've seen people get upset with other MMO players in FFXIV is when they do stuff like twirl bosses around.
Having played multiple MMOs over the years, I can say I've encountered MMO refugees of multiple stripes. The sort most likely to attract the sort of negativity you mention exists. In my experience, this person's traits are:
- often a WoW refugee, yes
- is temporarily bored of WoW, not really looking for something new
- goes on [other MMO]'s forums and endlessly complains that the game doesn't play exactly like WoW.
I've met plenty of WoW players who aren't like this, but I've seen it often enough that it's made itself one of the stereotypes.
There's also of course an ill-defined line between making experience-derived suggestions and asking to warp another game into playing exactly like an old one, but everyone's mileage varies there.
see...
being seemingly completely oblivious (at first) about what it is in that thread, yet bringing up dps judgement and meta gaming here, which is also supposedly something that 10000% will happen the second a hypothetical parser gets added according to a few people and is getting posted over and over and over and over as if they want it to happen, just to say that they were right
then later talking about it as if it's second nature and in this thread talking about those two things
sorry, but it seems disingenuous, since it looks like, at least to me, that you've already had made your mind up on the topic (and knew about it)
/shrug
so we're calling everyone that has a different opinion a troll, gotcha! I do like your passive aggressive toxicity, though
I've never played wow and the first time I came in contact with parsers was in FF through friends and acquaintances and I've never seen any of them use it to criticize, harass or bully someone, hell, I've never seen someone do that! The only times I've seen anything parsing related mentioned was someone in DF being proud of their numbers and people telling them to not talk about it in public
I need to hit my damn positionals damnit!
