Ty for having common senseThe people who hope for a kick at how the GCBTW will react are not the people claiming that the community isn't toxic or that they want to gatekeep the oh so toxic WoW players from the game.
Enjoying seeing people people who lie about the state of the community and who don't take any criticism of the game being faced with differing opinions, or worse, inconvenient truths about the game and its community and their reactions to their exposure to such vicious dissent, is not at all on the same level as basically saying "f off, we don't want you here you toxic pricks" towards an entire demographic while simultaneously claiming that XIV's playerbase is a paragon of acceptance.
Side note: These forums are pretty much a clown show as it is now. Between the amount of trolls lately posting in every thread to the constant gatekeeping in lore threads. Straight up clownery 24/7.

Its not an overreaction to people enjoying the game -- stop with that. Its basically the meme of people flipping out when someone criticizes the game because of X, Y, Z. We saw this with a streamer in the past (Scottzone) who criticized Eden. Its fine to enjoy the game and love it: the GCBTW comes out when people take the fanatic route and avidly have to defend the game and claim all criticism as invalid. And yet people somehow experienced a difference. So either the overlap isn't a majority, the overlap isn't the toxic part for the most part, or there is something in FFXIV that somehow curbs the toxicity to some extent, whether it's enforcement of the rules or something else.
It's not overpromotion. It's overreaction to other people having a good experience and sharing it.
Now -- suddenly, you have the largest MMO streamer on the platform coming to try out your game. A streamer whose persona is typically loudmouth, no bullshit, end-game focused in MMOs. A streamer who has an avid dislike towards RM cash shops. A streamer who has a rabid fanbase that is considered toxic and will follow him around in game.
We have the makings here for a beautiful powder keg.
tl;dr
Who cares?
I just want to elaborate on this a little bit more. I genuinely think this could be really good for the game. This game needs someone whose blunt af and points out the problems with the game and doesn’t get hurt by every little comment this community loves to send. It’s grown too soft with too many sensitive people who can’t handle criticism or enable bad play. This could be the change the game needs. Its not an overreaction to people enjoying the game -- stop with that. Is everyone here thinking about the ramifications if the actual verdict from the guy is "I tried it. It sucked. Don't bother to play this game"?
It always makes me laugh when I read the typical "WhO cArEs!!" response. It only makes you look stupid because you're trying to pretend that the size of his viewers isn't significant. Yet, SE welcomes him with open arms!! So obviously they care rofl!
