I am a member of one FC... The first one that asked me, I must be very easy xD, but it is overpopulated I feel like I need sth smaller or that suits me better, now that I am more used to the game.
That’s your problem ahah. Those FCs are only looking for numbers, not members. Try not to join the FCs that randomly ask you to join, or the FCs that spam /shout in the starter cities. They’re not necessarily the best.

Instead, look in the community finder, or search on reddit for smaller FCs advertising. Heck, I dunno if this would work, but maybe even try using /shout in the starter cities and ASKING “hey! I’m looking for a smaller, tight knit FC to join ^-^ please send me a /tell!”

If you’ve still got your sprout icon, even, /shout in limsa lominsa (because it’s the biggest of the three cities) and ask someone to invite you into the novice network. Not only will you have a constant place to chat about the game and ask questions (despite what so many people say, the novice chat is helpful as HECK). But you’ll also be able to ask in there.

I joined my second FC by just saying “My current FC is really big and it’s just... so confusing. Does anyone here have or belong to a small FC?” A few people sent me a /tell asking me what I was looking for in an FC and I explained what I needed. They all explained what they offered and allowed me the space to choose between the offers, or to turn them all down and keep looking!

Don’t feel too bad about not being able to talk in game though - Duty Finder parties are typically just quick run throughs because 9/10 times, everyone there’s already done that dungeon more times than they can count and they just want to be done with it lol.

    Hi,

I don't see dungeons as a place to chat, though nothing wrong with it.
Sometimes going through roulette's is a drag after a busy day of work or being tired, and sometimes you just want to get things over with it. That could be the same for other people too.

Would always be happy to chat outside of that, I hope you get to meet and find wonderful people. Have a good day.

People don't talk because the game is incredibly anti-social in so many ways.

You can start with the button spam combat system that never really grants a moment to type a sentence or make a social connection. Because if you're typing you're either falling behind or not doing your job and annoying the rest of the party.

But even if you could chat you cant sendn or receive tells to your friends in duties anyway so building social connections there is also a nono. and you often dont bother startinga conversation because as soon as the queue dings that response they sent you doesn't get received.then when your out of a duty theyre in one so cant continue talking anyway

Then there's the msq itself and it's arbitrary forcing you to be a Billy No Mates. You cannot progress because your in a party with friends. Even if there all a the exact same point in the msq. Honestly the msq qould be infinitely more fun if i could actually paly it ewith friends.. a storyshared is infintiely better than a story not..

You cant help your friends either in some cases like Savage because if you do you'll gimp there rewards so again anti-social there. actively discouraged from helping people.

There's also group size everyting is strictly 4 8 24 man so if you have 6, 7, 10 people that all want to do something people are inevitably going to get left out or excluded or noone does anything because the 7 people that want to play together now need an 8th pug which will interfere with any loot plans they may have..

All if this leads to any social connections and "friends" you do make often being incredibly shallow and superficial... not to unlike Facebook where someone thinks there popular because they have 1000 friends... yet never has meaningfull interactions with any of them and still feels.lonely and depressed because none of those 1000 friends are real..

Oh and duty finder. So you got a duty with 3 or 7 other players.. chances are once the duty is complete you'll never get matched with them again and if you do it'll be so long ago you forgot them..

Can't chat at all in PVP either. even more anti-social

All of which play big parts in why people dont communicate and the social interaction in Xiv is so superficial

Ah, yes, I understand thanks to all your comments. I am joining these duties when they appear and not commung back again, so I was not aware of this comming back, sometimes each day, to redo the duty. Then I understand why playwrs don't talk so much there, although I like advice to become a bettwr WHM, sometimes I do not know if I have been doing well my part.

    Thank you veru much

That was what I was thinking thise past days.
It is very difficult not to ppay this game as if it is an one player one.
Well, as I have no other purpose than enjoy mysekf here, I will try to be a social player
Even if I am kicked from a duty xD

I'm with you. I would have stopped long ago if it weren't for the friends I made along the way.

Definitely look for a social FC or even join a few social Linkshells and make friends there. Then ask people in those groups if they want to play through content together with you. It's a lot more fun going into dungeons or doing content for the first time with friends.
