Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

Feminine hair? Masculine hair? It's all just hair to me.

Anyway, i'd totally settle for the female ponytail for males considering how omnipresent those ludicrously massive collars are on clothing. Of course, the hair itself would probably clip into you character, but it is what it is. just gotta take what you can get i suppose.

Obviously hair is just hair at the end of the day, but given how many people playing male characters have (rightfully) griped about how a lot of the newer hairstyles are either clearly designed with female characters in mind first and then made unisex or some ambiguous anime-cut that ends up pleasing neither, how do you suppose cutesy styles like pigtails with daisies will go down for them?

You just proved my point with my previous comment. If they wanted to, they would have. But they were busy with male viera. ON THEIR FREE TIME. Im going to implode. I mean it is GREAT that bunnyboys and hrothgirls are coming but man they couldnt have waited a bit more? They couldve said "we will implement them in 7,5" or something and kept the buzz going? And then used that free time to fix what is currently broken? I am really hoping they actually upgraded femviera at the same time as they did this, because now it just seems like a plot to make more money and I can guarantee you it worked, suddenly limsa is full of vieras again when there were so few before. So many people will fantasia again back and forth. Then we will have 3 broken races.

Yeah, it's the 3 broken races impending doom looming over Endwalker. I love this game, so much. But I'm getting tired of getting screwed out of content and money I want to use the content I've worked for. Happy to pay my monthly sub. Happy to keep paying for extra retainers. Not happy to pay for a fantasia every patch because I want to use hats and hairstyles, and when I've gotten my fill, pay to switch back to Viera.

I'm very scared of how Female Hrothgar are going to turn out. I really dont want another Female Aura situation where the sexual dimorphism is so extreme that its off-putting.

I feel the focus is on the fact that we want all the hair styles, and all the hats- which while nice and a pipe dream- isn't exactly what we have been asking for. We've really only been asking for hairstyles that are either the race specific promised to Veira and Hrothgar- or that the new released hairstyles that have come out with the new expansion be useable or modified for them.

I apologize if I seem off base ( but I say this as I have a career in development- before I get a you know nothing Forum poster snow)….but if we have been waiting 2+ years because they have been trying to figure out cost and how to do all hair styles...Pretty sure it would have saved time, money, and headache to just instead implement a couple unique hairs here and there.

It really doesn't seem like he understands exactly what the problem is that the player base has with Viera/Hrothgar hairstyles and headgear. It's not that we want everything other races are getting, though that'd be nice. I guess we would want that, but I also think that there has been an acceptance that they would not be getting everything other races do. The issue is that they have not been given all the unique customizations they said we would be getting. This response shows that he's a bit out of touch in this regard. It's not that he doesn't care, and I fully believe that he does, but perhaps the information he is getting from us isn't getting translated as accurately as it should be. Wouldn't be the first time and it won't be the last. Sometimes he is genuinely surprised when he hears certain requests, even though we've been asking for them all along. I think that failure is the result of either poor translation or a complete lack thereof somewhere along the way.

Great questions and answer by Gamerescape and Yoshida in that interview; I think we're in for a shift in how Viera/Hrothgar headgear works and how they will put the time and effort to make the "hat hairs" that every race gets and then edit holes for Viera ears on headgear. Creating earholes for Viera ears sounds like it takes time but like I always say they don't need to release them all to the public at the same time, start with a group of headgear first like artifact gear and release that in a patch then go down to mogstation hats, etc.

This is the kind of information I've been looking from them, some kind of tangible action towards Viera heardgear and hairstyles.

Yeah, while everything would be nice, I think the majority of us understand that it's an impossible task to ask the dev team to accomplish. We just want the new stuff.

Renik posted part of an interview on the previous page where someone actually did ask about the hrothgar fantasia issue.

The answer is a little vague as to what specific parts of the question he's answering, but someone did finally ask. (or they finally chose to answer)

Yeah, while everything would be nice, I think the majority of us understand that it's an impossible task to ask the dev team to accomplish. We just want the new stuff.

Exactly, we want the new stuff or the equivalent to the new stuff for at least our artifact gear. Make it appear differently if neccessary. If we cant wear a red mage hat with a huge feather then turn it into a tiara with a feather then Idk. Or make the ears disappear under it so it at least is visible.
There are things that we should get or that should be designed with ALL races in mind:
Artifact gear
Mogstation hairs/hats

I went back to viera a few weeks ago and Im already bored. I love her but damn I am tired of the 8 hairstyles already. There is also the fact that alot of hairstyles change with hats on, the new "both ways" has only the cute strands appear if you wear a hat, vieras suffer more in that sense that the hair doesnt change at all. It is like wearing the same hat always. Viera hair is a permanent hat. We have 8 "hats" that have to fit with all gear ingame. Just imagine only having 8 hats and being forced to always use one of them with whatever gear you pick. *eyes fantasia*
