So I have some concerns regarding the interview posted... And it seems even Yoshi P is not missing the point per say- but maybe over shooting the ask.

I have another very specific question. You announced the male Viera at the Fan Fest. Many players still wish they could use more hairstyles and headgear for the Viera and Hrothgar. Can we perhaps hope for improvements here with the introduction of the male Viera?

Yoshi-P: First of all, I would like to talk about the most important points why Viera and Hrothgar have not yet been able to wear the headgear. We have some standardized specifications when it comes to headgear. Due to the unique design, for example the Viera with the long ears, these specifications do not always fit here and cannot always be applied. If players didn't mind if there were some graphical issues here and there then that would be fine, but if they are very visual it will not work with the standard specs that the we currently have in the game. So it is due to the fact that Hrothgar and Viera have a unique design, especially when it comes to the head. Perhaps it should be seen less from the perspective that they simply have fewer hairstyles and headgear than other races, but rather that it is not possible for them to wear them.

However, we are of course aware of the requests from the players and we are not the type of team that gives its players the cold shoulder and ignores their wishes. There have been points in the past that we thought impossible at first, but which we were then able to make possible. In this case in particular, over the past six months we have repeatedly thought about how we can reduce development costs or what options we have to implement all hairstyles. In between working on the updates, we always take the time to think about these things and weigh the possibilities. We even have regular meetings on this. I was in a meeting yesterday exactly because of that, and the next one is already planned for next week. So the players can be sure that we are concerned about this, but I would ask that they show a little patience and wait a little longer. Hopefully we have good news to announce soon.

I feel the focus is on the fact that we want all the hair styles, and all the hats- which while nice and a pipe dream- isn't exactly what we have been asking for. We've really only been asking for hairstyles that are either the race specific promised to Veira and Hrothgar- or that the new released hairstyles that have come out with the new expansion be useable or modified for them.

I apologize if I seem off base ( but I say this as I have a career in development- before I get a you know nothing Forum poster snow)….but if we have been waiting 2+ years because they have been trying to figure out cost and how to do all hair styles...Pretty sure it would have saved time, money, and headache to just instead implement a couple unique hairs here and there.

To me, it feels like a non-answer. Like almost an answer, but also not really an answer. I mean I think I can understand not wanting to get player's hopes up, but it just is angering. I know the dev team works hard and cares about the game. But all we want to for the new stuff to be used by Viera and Hrothgar. There are older things I'd love to use, but I'm more focused on the new things coming out and consistently not being usable by both Viera and Hrothgar.

The new things being tied to content as an incentive to do it is what irks me. What is the point of running bozja for the hair when I cant use it? sure I can sell it, but....I want to use it and it is a big incentive for alot of people to get the hair to use it.

I've stopped rushing to do content because of this to be completely honest. In Stormblood, a new holiday or content dropped and I'd be on it like a fly on shit. I'd have all new glam sets planned out for my Au'Ra and was always really excited. Now, I just barely finish holidays on the last few days (or hours) and I'm not jumping at doing Bozja.

Also I just dont believe them that it is this huge thing to implement hairstyles for vieras. Hrothgars? Sure I can believe that. But vieras? How difficult would it be to give female viera, the males hairstyles, really? I am hoping that male vieras are coming that female vieras are released from being paired with hrothgars in the development department. I sincerely do hope that Hrothgars get something too.

Every race/gender combination has their own set of exclusive styles and it would only serve to cheapen viera further to pawn off the male hairstyles to the females and the female styles to the males.

i agree. i‘m pretty sure if m and f viera would share all hairstyles and they would implement racial hairstyles for both of the genders, they probably would go the lazy rout and just add unisex hairstyles for both of them. unisex hairstyles in my opinion most of the time seem to be more on the feminine side, people who prefer to play male characters often sit at the shorter end of the lever...

I'm honestly disgusted that after ALL this time, vieras and hrothgars didn't get any new hairstyles, that SE hasn't updated gear to fit their heads either.
Instead what does SE do? Go and spends money and time creating extra race that will come as unfinished as these two.
New hairstyles being released, just not for those two races. And why not? Cause not enough people make angry noises cause not enough people play them, so SE ignores them.
Anyone know how can I get money back I spent on Yshtola hairstyle that I can't use?

If they wanted to bring over modern aestheics they would have, as they were giving it to all other races and fixing it for miqote and au ra horns as well. They just won't. They said they would and then changed it pretty quickly and said viera would be getting race exclusive hairstyles. I rather have male viera hair than none at this point. I think we can maybe hope for the mogstation hair, since we paid for it and it just seems like bad company policy to give part of the playerbase 2/3 of payable content. And cheapen? They released two races halfassed. Viera came out cheapened to begin with.
(also Im not annoyed at you Im annoyed at having 8 hairstyles only after two years).

It really doesn't seem like he understands exactly what the problem is that the player base has with Viera/Hrothgar hairstyles and headgear. It's not that we want everything other races are getting, though that'd be nice. I guess we would want that, but I also think that there has been an acceptance that they would not be getting everything other races do. The issue is that they have not been given all the unique customizations they said we would be getting. This response shows that he's a bit out of touch in this regard. It's not that he doesn't care, and I fully believe that he does, but perhaps the information he is getting from us isn't getting translated as accurately as it should be. Wouldn't be the first time and it won't be the last. Sometimes he is genuinely surprised when he hears certain requests, even though we've been asking for them all along. I think that failure is the result of either poor translation or a complete lack thereof somewhere along the way.
