I'm only really interested in the number of UK players moving to Ragnarok. It's just not viable joining a French, German or Spanish LS because they will expect you to understand their language. They are not going to speak using the auto translate for the few people who can't understand French or whatever, it's just not viable. If this kind of thing was the norm then I'd have joined a Japanese LS on launch day because their play time was more suited to me than US.

I've partied with French and Japanese players before and while it works in an EXP environment I just can't see such a barrier working in an end-game environment. There isn't enough time in a difficult fight to construct auto translate statements and while some may be able understand English they may not be confident speaking it over vent.

Why would you have to speak french or german to play with fr/de people?
Back in FF11, i was in an EU linkshell with a mix of Fr/De/Uk and some NA people. Everyone was speaking english. We were able to accomplish endgame content without a problem.

The purpose of this server is not to have french LS on one side and german ls on another side.

Im french and i will maybe have a social LS with french speaking only, but for doing endgame, i expect to be on a EU ls with people from all over the globe, and of course we will all speak english.

Sure, but if there is going to be an "EU" server perhaps it should be aimed at speakers of non English to get together. That would make more sense then trying to pigeon hole all EU players onto one server and causing that divide you mentioned. Far more then Xen implied.

Fact of the matter is there are large pockets of GMT (myself included) and EU players on several servers who want nothing to do with this. Not because so much of people won't be speaking English, but people like the eclectic nature of FF games. They want to play with people from all over the world and stamping 10 as an EU server dumbs that down.

I think everyone understood you're not favorable to ragnarok because you think it'll become an EU server, but I still say that ragnarok is not an EU only server and we don't want it that way, we want a worldwide international server where every player can play with others whatever the hour of playing. I'm french but often play very late with canadians and american players but I still want to play with french people .

We can have an international server on ragnarok but it's just a matter of will.

If thats what you want then it should not have been coined as "the EU server". Giving it that moniker automatically gives it the divide that many people don't want. There should have been several EU friendly servers - suggested - not branded.

Pigeon-holing (or rather trying to) will take away from the player collage of the game. In fact one could argue thats already happened from the civil war brewing on this in both the French and German forums.

Have you considered starting your own LS when you move there, I'd be willing to join if I do move over.

I don't really think thats the big deal, FFXIV and FFXI players tend to make this out to be a sales point of these games and it really isn't, the majority only play with JP players a very small percentage of the time. (and almost never end game unless they know the language)

There isn't a great difference playing with someone from the UK or US really, nor that of an english speaking EU person.

I think the biggest reason people won't join the EU server is because they have grown accustomed to their enviroment and friends, and we all know how much people dislike change, add that to the uncertainty of the servers population and its obvious why people don't want to transfer there.

Last I checked it's "Recommended EU server" its not "EU only", Yoshida has already said many times that it isn't EU only and that is open to everyone, I feel as if you are purposefully trying to dissuade people based on your bias.

Exactly and we have to think to the futur too, maybe some new players (i hope) will come to 1.21 and later so the server could grow up and have more and more diversity, cultures etc.

As Ookami said it's not cause Ragnarok is "recommended for EU" that it will be EU only and we don't want that too, everyone is welcome.

The purpose of it being called EU is to attract EU people there. Now and future people joining. Dissuade people from what? Pigeon holing the populace and its future inhabitants onto one so called EU server? Then yes, I am biased in the fact that I believe there should be several servers that are EU friendly. Again, the game is about meeting people from all over the world.

complaint for complaint, if you dont want an UE server, u have another 9 internetional.

I am Spanish, i am hoping to be on EU LS, i dont care if you are german, french, rusian, englishman... i want people to play on my timezone and to talk them in english.

Think about this: in a future, Ragnarok will remain as EU server so new players (without bonds or friends in another servers) probably will go there, and the other 9 servers will go low in EU population, not global population: If you have a big LS you probably will not have any problem.

Thats's the point though SE have done their homework and know that the EU population isn't big enough to spread over multiple EU server.

If that were the case we wouldn't even need an EU server to begin with.

People dont mind being pigeon holded if it means they can play during their prime time, obviously you and others do, but some of us don't.

As the post above said their are 9 other servers to choose if you would prefer to be on an international server.
