Best Way to Earn Grand Company Seals for a PFC

First, a bit of back story. I rolled a new character with the idea of having them join a GC and eventually using my retainers to gain shards and crystals, among other things. This would double the number of retainers I can use to obtain items.

(I am also level 48 as I wanted to gain the ability to fly. I think I can finish that once I reach level 49 and I add that information if it perhaps makes obtaining seals from leves and fates easier).

I am presently a pfc (private first class) and need 2000 seals to reach the rank of corporal. Then I need 5000 more seals to reach the rank of Sgt 3rd class. Then I will be able to do the rank 2 hunting quests. I am not sure what rank is required to do the supply and provision missions and make expert deliveries. I am hoping it is Sgt 3rd class.

Okay then, what is the best way to get the 7000 seals I need to reach Sgt 3rd class? I cannot find any quests to do that yield seals. The only other options I can think of are GC leves and fates.

Are the leves and fates the best way now to get the 7000 seals I need? Is there any other way that I have am not aware of?

    All suggestions are appreciated.

    Thank you!

Tier 1 GC hunt log + the pvp intro mission (you only need to talk to an NPC) will drop a bunch on you. Sadly not enough to get you to Sgt. You could try farming dungeons as an Adventurer In Need (effectively only tank or heals). If that's not possible your next best bet is to do GC leves until Sgt 3rd Class. The amount dropped by ARR FATEs really aren't worth the bother.

Expert deliveries don't unlock until Sgt. 2nd class but you now have access to the Tier 2 hunt log. That should be just enough to get you to S2C.

Actually, at level 80 you could burn through a few low level FATEs fairly rapidly to get enough seals, as seal rewards are fixed depending on how you do, rather than scaling with your level. This is after all how players got enough seals for their first GC promotion right at the start of ARR's service.

So by doing a few of the 'NM'/boss type FATEs (not the elite boss FATEs though, just the more mundane ones) and you'll soon get enough seals for the promotion (the first promotion is only 2000 seals - most FATEs reward around 100-200 seals for gold medal completion).

when I roll a new alt I make darn sure I'm at least Sgt. if not Lt. by the time I'm rolling through Northern Thanalan towards Castrum Meridianum. Usually I'm 1st Lt. by the time I'm out of HW.

The only thing 80 gets you is access to better gear that might help with FATEs. You're still level capped and have to wait for them to spawn. You don't get capped for leves, can trigger them on demand, and are intended as solo content. Far less effort for the same amount of GC's. The only downside is that you need enough allowances to let you run them.
