Parsers add replayability for casual players

Meh at this point it is not even about the transparency for me. I just want to see if making them open or legal turns this game into a raging dumpster fire that people seem some afraid of.

I mean I get your experience with WoW had a high use if harrassment and misuse. Though I am sure others had very different experiences. Like myself do not get me wrong I did see harassment and misuse though generally most of my experience would fall in the neutral or pleasant encounter.

Though I do get if one has had an overly negative experience with them in the past why they would be so against them.

It was far more than one incident... more like that sort of thing was normal behaviour, and the best you could hope for in a random group was one which was silent and nothing went wrong. Everything was on a knife edge, hoping that things went smoothly and was over with quickly before someone exploded.

The whole idea of "It can't happen here" fails to take into account that WoW was once a far more pleasant place to be, raising the question of what went wrong in the first place? I wouldn't place the blame solely on the misuse of parsing tools, but again, they do seem to be the longest-lasting means of propagating toxicity in that game.

I get that was your experience but for me the most part everyone was chill sure I ran into the asshole every so often though to say everything was a knife edge. If that was your common occurrence then one should examine why it happened so often.

Not to undermine your experience everyone probably has a different experience though I do think it is disingenuous to say everything was at a knfies edge.

In the little I played WoW, I don't think I can agree that that is normal behavior. I would get complimented quite frequently actually - I specifically remember being complimented on my healing during PvP, in fact. Personal experiences I guess.

It's exactly that. And it happens with both WoW and FFXIV and really any large enough community where you can play with different people every day.

One example: In WoW, a Mage in a dungeon I was in was kicked for not using Time Warp in the first boss of a normal BfA dungeon. That experience did not make me want to use Time Warp on the first boss of a dungeon whenever I played a Mage myself and I was never kicked or harassed. And yet that Mage certainly had a different experience than me.

That's why when people have a problem with the FFXIV community for whatever reason, it has to be taken into context of that player's own experience. On the internet, you can find people agreeing with whatever problem you have and people disagreeing, both based on their own experiences.

To add: This game already allows players to kick others due to "difference in playstyles", and players do it all the time here. Anyway, I think a big thing here is though.. players aren't actually being "harassed", at least not at the level some might say. Many take any sort of criticism - constructive specifically - or even suggestions as personal attacks, and I have stated as much many times before. There is a difference between actual harassment, and constructive criticism. One player asking another to use more than cure 1, or to actually use AoE shouldn't even be an issue here. It should be common sense, but such a community has been harbored here. Any form of self improvement - even the mere suggestion of a personal parser - is seen as such by many, in my opinion.
