In fairness to the dev team, there is only so much of a story you can tell before it simply drags on. While it's certainly subject, I doubt I'm alone in thinking a good chunk of the job quest story chains were simply bad. Even some of the better ones started to show their wane in Stormblood as the team were clearly out of ideas. Furthermore, we're at a point where our character can't realistically play the "student" role without it getting both extremely redundant and downright silly.

Now you could argue why not start brand new stories, but with nineteen jobs. That's a massive undertaking with only five quests to work with.

Personally, I'm far more interested in gameplay and the MSQ itself than how Curious Gorge gets depressed. Again.
