I think it's a bit strict and ridiculous, but at the same time I dunno why people do this unless it's in private chat or with people you know.
It's pretty cringe and gross, it's like people spamming '' booba, milkers '' every time a female character exists it's just gross and really off-putting.
And I say that as someone that actually does have a dirty sense of humor, like there is a time and place for it.
But when people spam these things I mean I have no clue what their values are etc and not everyone likes it, it's hard to laugh at it too if you don't know whether the person is being serious or not.
Same with jokes involving race, they can be funny but it's not really funny if you think the person might be serious.
Part of what makes it fun imo is when everyone is in on it and knows that it's stupid.
It's not really that fun if you're a woman either in most cases to have a bunch of dudes spamming that stuff the moment someone of your gender exists or anything that could possibly be seen as even mildly suggestive if you tried hard enough.
Like posting or seeing someone post fanart or seeing some new character, trailer or whatever be posted then scrolling down and seeing people spam pervy shit is just inappropriate and uninviting.
Anyways my two cents.
Like I said I like pervy humor and sexualized content etc, more than most people.
But at the same time I am not just openly gross about it constantly to random people.
Take it as a lesson to not just assume everyone thinks it's funny or that they'll react well to it, in private chats and with people you know it's another matter.
Edit: And inb4 someone gets mad, I am not saying you should be banned or that it should be illegal and you should be executed for jokes that offend people.
I am just saying maybe be a little bit mature and mindful about it.
Well, in this case you wouldn't have to do any reading into it.
Even if most can probably agree that it's a bit much to put the OP in jail.

Honestly, i get your point i dont do that persay sure ill do some yaoi shipping in msq let and other booring things.. But thats about it..
However the internet is a place were people shouldnt be mature were they shouldnt limit themself and walk on god damn egg shells .. Bad enough we have to do that bs irl.. The internet is suppose to be wild and "free" were people can relax not walk on egg shells worrying non stop and stressing because of the nonsense they use anymore..
Its a place were there is no point in lies unlike irl , were you can state your view/opiniom without giving a damn about what others think about it.. Or atleast it supposed to be.until everyone became soft skin and devs lost their backbone back by before people start policing it and wonder y ppl get so angry irl as anymore it because our outlet were we didnt have to worry/stress is policed and gone

To be fair, it is kind of silly that you can technically lose your account just from swearing. If two (or more) people argue with each other, it is their own personal dilemma and if you dont like it, the blacklist function and language filter exists for a reason. I am aware that it is aganist Squeenix Terms of Service, but it is ridiculous that you can end up getting banned just because you lost your cool once.
This isn't just the internet tho, it's a MMO that other people pay money for too.
I do agree that it is a little bit of walking on egg shells in FFXIV tho, but I also think people often do objectively inappropriate things then complain when consequences happen.
I don't agree that this specifically was walking on egg shells.
Ultimately tho it's up to the FFXIV mods, and I do agree they're too strict I've had my own run in with them for what I thought was a really dumb reason.
I don't disagree with you that the internet should be a pretty free place but that doesn't mean that literally every place on the internet needs to be 110% free at all times.
I mean at that point disturbed individuals would just invade every space, the moment you allow for pretty much anything the most extreme people take over and things turn bad.
All it really takes is a very loud and extreme minority to cause a lot of problems.
Some forums etc are a lot more unrestricted than others, and I think that in a MMO and such you kinda do have to be a bit mindful as to not make it unpleasant for everyone around you.
Again I am not saying you should be erased from existence because of it, but at the same time I know how bad it gets in games with basically no moderation or where the players moderate their own servers.
I play Mount and Blade a lot too and it's a complete hellhole, every time I log unto one of the big servers it's '' debates '' about ethnostates, jews and people spamming the n-word.
What the OP did is obviously nowhere near that bad, but you get my point.
It turns people people at large away, you don't have to be easily offended to not want to be around that stuff.
I dunno how old you are, but I remember the earlier days of the internet and just how bad it was.
And I'd rather take what we have now than what it used to be and I think most would.

I get it, I do, but the game rating is “teen” and we’re I a parent allowing my 13 y.o. daughter to play this (or any online game really), I would be unhappy if other players were allowed to freely talk in disgusting language.
I wouldn’t care about the occasional slipped swear word, but then again I believe most players don’t care either.
..therefore to be reported for it tells me that either a) you were going above and beyond in your language or b) you have a bad relationship with other members of the community who were able to report your slip up or c) there’s some troll who just enjoys causing issues.
Either way, when you enter a public space, you should be on your best behavior. Losing your cool in the game is akin to losing your cool at a restaurant or sports event...you really shouldn’t and if you are about to, consider just walking away for a bit.
I guess I’ll just stop talking in dungeons entirely and quit doing leveling dungeons with new players as healer. Don’t feel like helping people if the reward is jail time after some snowflake gets offended.
People keep going on about how people are easily offended these days and you're going on about how policing things on the internet but...these aren't new things. EG. I've never been on a forum that doesn't have rules for conduct and moderators to enforce it, I've been a moderator and enforced them. The first forum community I joined was founded like 2000 I think, it was a product forums for something marketed to teens and up (where I later became a moderator), case in point, I was 13 when I join and they have always been strict on keeping it family friendly. People forget this game is marketed teen and up.
It's a myth that the internet is just a free-for-all where you can do what you like because it depends /where/ you are on the internet.
Bear in mind you're in a community of people of all types and of all backgrounds and the devs want to facilitate a positive community that's welcoming of people, a "screw you if you're offended" approach doesn't really accommodate that. To me that just means, as somebody said, you read the room. Speaking as somebody with an offensive sense of humour who swears like a sailor and can be pretty immature, I read the room and choose my audience and I've yet to be moderated.
But we don't know the reason OP is in jail only what they think it is, whilst to me mostly harmless and I think a slap on the wrists would make more sense given warnings are permanent, like a "don't do that".
Then on the people being easily offended these days, when people say stuff like this I remember how heavy metal was effectively put on trial in the 70's for its offensive lyrics and sound and how nowadays we have way worse, like read any Infant Annihilator lyrics or Cannibal Corpse, and we don't bat an eyelid. People have always been offended by things, but it's just shifted.
I mean, taking it from a parental point, your kid wants to play a game, you see its rating to get an idea if it's age appropriate. They pick up Final Fantasy XIV and see it's rated Teen, so they'll expect what they'll get is appropriate for what's rated 'teen'.
Should people adjust? I mean, the ToS says 'yes'. Yes, I disagree with the harshness if what you've suggested might be the reason they did it, but it does still count as a violation.
It's a bit gross of you to question someone's parenting because they're allowing their 13 y/o to play FFXIV.
No one has to adjust for anyone's kids, you have to adjust because you're on the equivalent of private property and agreed to behave accordingly.
If that joke is really all you said then I think it's incredibly petty for someone to report you over it and the fact no GM has come talk to you yet is probably worse, but focus on that rather than being angry at someone pointing out there's still terms and conditions.
