And what is the problem with "visuals"? The Rathalos gear is an example of the team not following to the letter a pre-existent design, since every "visual" could very well be adapted to the style we have in the game! And rewards would be based on visuals, wouldnt they? This request has been made because someone (or some people) like the visual style of that anime, right? You'd like to see this because you'd like to dress your character in gear that looks like the stuff the characters in said anime wear - if not, asking for more "samurai insipired" gear would have been fine and there would be no need for a crossover.
People then could just argue there is also no need for more "samurai inspired" gear but it's missing the point. This isn't about things we lack in the game, it's just speculation about a colab we could have, with rewards that people who don't even know said anime could also enjoy! Just like things went with the GARO colab.

I dunno man, I see them about as often as can be expected when there are 407 minions, 198 mounts, and god knows how many weapons...
On that note, can you (OP) credit the fanart or if that’s too much, replace all instances of the fanart with screenshots and official art from the show? Fanartists work hard and spend hours on their works, uncredited fanart is just... not it, chief.
And related directly to the topic of the thread, I feel like the show’s a bit... overhyped? This reminds me of when games would have collabs with things like Bleach, Black Butler, etc etc. Like, it’s great on it’s own but the hype train has gotta stop at some point.
Does that mean I’d be upset if they did another collab with something? Nah. But I personally don’t think it’s necessary.
I'd rather FFXIV stick firmly to game related cross-overs. Seeing a bunch of things from every anime in existence is really going to have an impact on overall immersion, imo. It's one thing to see someone wearing a slime crown from a game series closely resembling this one but if someone runs by me wearing cosplay pieces from -insert generic shonen anime here- then I think that might be a part of a tipping point for me, lol.
Devil's advocate: I don't see how it's much different from our cosplay pieces from FF8 or FF9. Demon Slayer is more aesthetically similar than most of the stuff we get from within our own franchise. The FF13 stuff still looks really odd to me.I'd rather FFXIV stick firmly to game related cross-overs. I don't think S/E willing to work with this one because main character has some controversy issue with Korean and Chinese.
His earring was an old Japanese empire sun flag and that has triggered many asian nations.
It's more just 'knowing'. If I see Lightning's gunblade, I know it's a Final Fantasy-verse construct. If I see someone running around with Ichigo's zangetsu, for instances, I know it's from Bleach and if I see more items or cosmetics from anime brands I recognize, the whole thing starts to feel a bit theme-parky. Where would the cross-overs stop?
The fact that they used fan art is the real deal breaker. It's like showing modded screenshots/fan art to sell someone on FFXIV. That's not the product. And I say this as someone who watched the series.
