Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

Not to mention they already basically “cut holes” in modern aesthetic hair for miqo and nobody bats an eye.

It's certainly an issue that I've noticed with Miqo'te as well and I think they've gotten sloppier with it over time (along with making hats that have ear holes and visible ears - even the covered "ear socks" seem to be a thing of the past.)

All three of my Miqo'te alts are using hairstyles that I think work well around the ears - and all, coincidentally or not, are from the early unique or semi-unique era of hairstyle choices.

Honestly Hrothgar would be more bearable to keep if the aesthetician legit let you change everything considering how limited it is. The fact that it let's you change the color of the pelt and not the fur seems already weird to me.
Might as well give face change as well.

(Kinda sucks since the race has a nice body type and really works well with many armors)

Maybe tomorrow there will be a new hairstyle we can use. I doubt it though just because I think they would’ve shown it in the live letter. I did see on the updated 5.5 site the new Bozja armor sets. It looks like all the headgear is useable by viera and hrothgar.

The twins hairstyle is on the mogstation and they didn’t make it so viera could use it. I’m not sure if they are planning on going back to do the mogstation styles or not. I keep hoping they will at least add the hairstyles we purchased in the mogstation and the special in game purchasable ones. I would love form and function (eureka one) for my viera. I’m not expecting anything, but I’d love to be surprised

That would an amazing surprise but who knows if in the patch notes we don't see "New Viera Hair". It would be a dream Huh? T_T Anyways we still have some months prior to EW and who knows, proly in the next live letter they can update us on it? Or in that 14h stream that was suppose to happen in February and it was cancelled. But yeah it's annoying that people bought hairs on the mogstation and spent hours on the game farming for hairs and you can't just use them because your favorite race is incomplete!

This would definitely fix the issue of using a Fantasia to change hairstyles, but, like the Au Ra horns, the hair is tied to face. If they allowed Hrothgar to do this they would have to let everyone. I believe this would be the best solution for the long term. The only thing a Fantasia should be needed for is to change race. Even WoW’s equivalent to the aesthetician let’s people change gender now. I think ffxiv should do the same.

Yeah, they should take inspiration from wow and massively expand what you can change in the aesthetician... I'll never tire of saying that. This is a sub game after all, they don't need to make all the money with fantasia sales, maybe just a bit of money making fantasias be only for race or gender change...

If they think it wouldn't be lore appropriate, make a new quest with a new npc that is Jandeline's rival that can change your face structure... or make a quest where Jandeline learns how to sculpt peoples faces or whatever... Maybe even charge us more gil for these bigger changes. It's definitely possible.

It's because the striped pelt is controlled by the hair colour setting (which other races can edit) but the body fur is the skin colour setting (which they cannot).

Yeah, it sounds dumb but I think I had an anxiety attack last night while thinking about how much I spend/have spent on fantasia, and I feel like with the new update tomorrow and the lack of news, I'm going to switch back to miqo'te just so I can use the new style. It's a complete waste of money, I have been just donating it to SE at this point. Can't help it.

They do cut holes for the viera hairs already. The actual hair models have holes. For Miqote hairs the fur for ears is attached to the hairstyle. The ear flap is attached to the face. This is why miqote ears can move with their emotes. Viera ears are completely separated and just sit in the holes. This was done so viera could have different ear styles. The head for viera is actually really similar to midlander. The issue is ear placement. The ears float a bit above the top of the head and certain hairstyles the ears would be floating above them. They would have to build the hair up otherwise your hair and ears wouldn’t be connected.

I heard people saying probably Bozja, I had no actual confirmation on it though. Either way it's something viera most definitely won't be able to use, so yet another hairstyle unavailable.

Yeah, I saw we wouldn't be able to use it when people did that video on it :')

But if it's going to be like trying to get Early to Rise to drop maybe that's not the worst thing about it.
