Starting the Game as a DD is a horrible experience

I think you suffer from a great misunderstanding here from what twinking realy means. Making a twink or twinking always means that you make another char besides from your main character on your account. It has allways bean this way since i started playing MMOs 20 years ago. It has nothing to do with what you plan to do with that new character. Some ppl make twinks just for fun, for playing with friends, for, jobs, for rp, for gearing up another class or just for more inventory and thats just some of the possible reasons.

This has been around since Ultima Online, and EQ etc etc, all the way to WoW. Example, in World of Warcraft, having Ilevel 50 gear on a level 19 character after the stat squish. Making that Level 19 character, able to one shot anyone in PvP.

There's no point to doing such a thing in FFXIV, since gear doesn't matter in PvP. Have to rely on skill and your party for kills.

Sorry but this isn't the case where i live. Maybe that's true for other country's, but here in Germany we use the term twink/twinking for making another char since mmos existed. And btw. this is just a normal character not a PvP twink or anything special.

DPS is the role with the most players, so they unfortunately tend to have longer wait times since they're quite literally 10 gil per dozen. Just gotta be paitent. I recommend finding small things to do during down time that don't take you too far from seeing/hearing the que up "CHING"

Huh... that's really interesting.
It's a safe guess that those two terms were related at some point, but I wonder when and why they diverged.

Thank you for asking, yea Satasha was the only case where i had to way that long so far. Until now i usualy wait between 10-15 minutes. My only issue right now is that i dont know what to do until dungeon pops up to get fast xp.

I'm glad to hear things are going better for you~

I think at that level, the best exp you can go after while in que is from FATEs and the hunting/challenge logs.

Hey now, the game GAVE me a leather harness and Jockstrap to wear at low level .. Its not my fault i make them look good

Create an alt and give them gear they wouldn't otherwise be able to get on their own. So like I craft a bunch of HQ gear on my main for my alt character and find a way to pass it to them. It was easier in older games like EQ which had a shared bank, but still possible now if you can get someone to help you or you have access to an FC chest, which is what I do since I have my own FC.

There are other meanings like you mentioned but that's been the usage for it in MMO gaming (just different aspect sometimes in different games) for over 20 years.

It's interesting that Germany uses the same term for just an alt character. There is a distinct difference in NA where "twink" means you've outfitted the character or "twinked" them out, and "alt" is just another character either on the same or another account. Though we didn't use character in EQ. We used toon.

Run FATEs, do your hunting log, do your challenge log, do daily Hunt bills from your GC (though these sucked more in ARR since some were tied to FATES), and beast tribes.

Are you trying to troll?

Of course you don't have long wait times as tank or heal, often even instant invites because there are way more DD class players than everything else.^^
