I think it's also partly that viera are matriarchal yeah? Would make sense that the females are taller.

I think they're a strange case because while they don't live with each other, the women don't exactly rule over the men either as far as we know?

But why would that make a difference to their height? We haven't seen a female Hrothgar yet, but the Helions are definitely a matriarchy and the men haven't exactly shriveled.

I’m in the camp of them having a similar height with maybe females edging them out enough to make them taller even if only slightly. I also would be cool with the males having the drastic height slider like female Roes do. That would fit with how so many people want the heights to be.

Male Viera seem to be visually very similar to females, with androgynous faces and relatively thin bodies, and especially since their sex isn't supposed to be obvious until relatively late in life.
It seems to me that they ought to be exactly the same height range. That's what I'd prefer anyways, no height or size deviation between females and males at all.

Some people just prefer to play shorter characters. (most people do, if the censuses are to be believed)
for me, they feel faster/larger characters run in slow motion. I know some people feel conflicts are more epic when their character is physically unassuming yet is constantly facing larger-than-life enemies. Some people don't like to stick out in a crowd. And some, that's just who they are (like my fc discovered that like half of us are 5' 6" lol)
(also what is it with kinks and fetishes with some of you? You know not every source of motivation comes from the loins right? ...Right?)

XIV doesn't offer tall races that look somewhat human. Players are humans, they will identify with the more human ones within the game. The shorter side has an overabundance of the human looking races, while the tall side has lanky giraffe, animal, reptile with hourglass shape, horns sticking out of their heads, tail, and scales in 50% of their body, and giant men (handsome, powerful men) shaped like a muscle truck. It's harder to connect with real life players on the tall side when there's no real human like option.

Male Viera presents the chance for them to finally give us a tall human like male option.

Yes, as people who actually play male characters like ourselves, I feel there's a big portion of us who feel this way.
My gripe with some people is that I see people who clearly only/mostly play female characters have such a big stake on what the male choice of the viera race looks like as if they're actually going to play one. Not to be confused with not respecting their opinion, it's more to do with how they want to deny male Viera from ever being tall because they want the female to be taller? Denying people that play a male race the chance to be tall because you want the female to be taller? That kind of reasoning doesn't sit well with me at all, it's the same male Au ra, female Au ra mistake.

well i must admit, i play miqo‘te because they look pretty amazing, so do hyur - the two most popular male races. if we go to the taller races now, we really start to see some weird design choices, which imo drive many people away. i planned to play an elezen in 2.0, because i really prefer the elvish races. i was put off because of their lankiness, they have stiff animations and their running animation is also weird and many other weird design choices (small head, giraffe neck). then we have au ra males, who are really handsome, but i see how the forced scales in the face may put many off(which imo are more apparent for example compared to the females), but since it‘s their identity it‘s justified. i see their thunder hips getting mentioned a lot also (hour glass shape)... which is also quite controversial among the community - for me personally it‘s just sometimes really difficult to glamour around it. then we have highlander, who could really need eyebrows added and maybe some handsome face options. roe... well yeah... not everyones cup of tea just like hrothgar -they are designed to a appeal to a certain niche.
the reason why i personally don‘t wish male viera to be drastically smaller is because we‘d have another race competing between the most played male races: miqo‘te and hyur. i‘d personally would love them around the height of the females - which lore wise makes also perfectly sense. the females for example are the third most played race (active accounts) which in all honesty brings some fresh air to the races, we now have finally a popular tall race competing with the smol, cute races. (miqo‘te and au ra)

about the kink and fetish part: twitter might be the reason why some people think they only want them smaller just because of a weird fetish - but it‘s silly projecting that to everyone. twitter can be a really, really weird place after all. xD
