He said they would be like elezen and miqo'te, and that much is true. They do resemble both races, much like female viera did. However, he did not clarify their height. At all. That is still up in the air.

To be fair, he did also have to put out a statement specifically turning down the idea of child-like male viera. With that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to keep far away from anything resembling that aesthetic.

But yeah, ultimately as someone who actually plays male characters I'd prefer not to see both of the likely final races to be added to the game conform to niche aesthetics. Hrothgar are already the niche option and the same will likely be true when the women are added as well.

So with viera women being conventionally attractive I'd definitely appreciate and approve of their male counterparts being that way as well.

Though between the various in-depth comparisons done on various FFXIV related sites it's clear to me that the men are of at least equal height, if not a little taller so I'm happy.

We'll what happens when the benchmark arrives, though that's probably months away.

It's what some people are pushing for. I suppose it was wrong of me to assume you were aware of that, though - I did as much because you were a frequent participant in the very same debates over in the main thread devoted to the topic of male viera. Though naturally things can slip one's mind which is perfectly understandable.

Either way, I'm firmly in the camp of more options for classically handsome male characters that are conventionally attractive.

Yeah, I am not too concerned with their height or build as more comparisons keep coming in. Whatever SE's vision is at this point, whether they are slightly taller, slightly shorter, same height, they look to be in a good height range. The only players I can see actually being disappointed by this, are people who want them taller or shorter for personal reasons, in my opinion. I'm more concerned with how customizable they will be, and further support for viera (both male and female).
