Male Midlander max height, no matter how tall it is in real life, isn't tall in this game. .

Funny thing, at least for me.... at 6' in real life, I don't consider myself to be that tall, yet I'm still taller than maximum height midlanders.

I tend to like to create my characters in games to be a more idealized version of myself, yet I tend to also try to keep the height the same, and as is, only highlanders offer a race that can be 6' tall exactly. Midlanders at max height are still too short, and elezen at minimum height are too tall. So... if I had my wish, of course, I'd want them to bridge the gap in heights being taller than most midlanders while overlapping to being about as tall as highlanders, while at max height maybe the highlander is still taller. If the copied the female height spread exactly, this would not only fill a gap that's missing for male heights but also make it so your viera could be taller or shorter than the opposite sex based on your own taste. Current female heights are 5'10 - 6'3

True, we are rather lacking a handsome tall race. Elezen would have been it but their proportions are way out of whack and their animations stiff. The other tallboys are so far out there in fantasy with their proportions that they're off-putting. So I can see where you're coming from.

Honestly, all of this could be solved if they just added in the broad scale.

I also have my doubts that a lot of the same people pushing for short viera men are actually going to play one themselves. It reminds me of how female roegadyn are praised vocally on the likes of Twitter and Reddit but you see so few of them in-game or listed in official race/gender census statistics.

Very much so, this is why I said few pages back, that a lot of us who actually play male races want a tall option. A lot of the uwu female miqo'te players project their preference on a gender they would never touch. I acknowledge the current male midlander/male miqo'te players who would switch to them though by forcefully requesting that a short option is also available. We can achieve both by using the female Roegadyn height slider and range.

People who want to deny a normal looking tall male are really in the wrong; as it wouldn't affect their short option in any way.
As for a few topics I keep seeing here:

1. No one knows if their height is already set by the devs or whether they would consider a broader height slider in character creation. Remember how they said adding new races takes a lot of time; no one here knows how far in creating them they are. Male Hrothgar still had a lot of development to go through when they showed them at Shadowbringer's fanfest, and we're half a year away from release.
2. I see an image here claiming that "outlier" is a word used for height, but that's not a word I've ever seen used in my life to describe height. Specially when that image lists 2 races as outliers. An outlier by definition would not include "2 or more;" it never has a plural definition to it. Midlander is not tall in this game on the male side, it's on the short side of the spectrum. The real average male height is between male Elezen and male Highlander.

Male midlander is average, and could even be considered above-average at max height. Male viera being taller than a midlander at max height, if they were on par with females, would make them a tall player race; they would be tall in both RL, and in-game. Au Ra males, for example, are very tall, and can be gigantic in comparison to everyone else.

I just don't see how male Midlanders can be considered average or above-average. They're clearly on the shorter end next to male Miqo'te.

They're only taller than male Miqo'te and Lalafell. Every other male race is taller than Midlander.

Highlander, Elezen, Hrothgar, male Au Ra, and Roegadyn all outsize Midlander. That's definitely not average, much less above-average, even at max height.

So if max height male Viera are the same height as max Midlander, they would be on the shorter end.

Again, if we are to use playerbase preferences... You realize that many players will drop the height slider to minimum, right? I just don't see this as a strong argument for anyone to make here. The only way for this "handsome, tall" male race to be properly represented among the playerbase is to force the issue. To not allow this race to be short - shorter than max-height midlander, for example. Even then, if the playerbase prefers to play smaller, or shorter male characters, this does not necessarily mean they will be proportionally represented among the playerbase. Players will just simply choose to not play it.

A lot of players simply chose not to play female Viera for that same reason. Because the height was forced on them, and because of that many went back to female Miqo'te and female Au Ra.

However, a good number stayed Viera. Viera is third most popular female race now, after all.

And while female Viera may not have appealed to players who want to play a short race (which is a big chunk of the playerbase), it did appeal to those who wanted another tall girl race that was elegant. Female Elezen are elegant in their own right, but their proportions throw off a lot of people.

It's the same case with male Viera. If they end up being tall, the people who want to play a handsome short race (other than Midlander and Miqo'te), will probably end up changing back.

But at least those of us who want a tall handsome male race will get a second choice other than Elezen. Just like how female Viera did that for the tall females.

This statement is extremely hypocritical. While I agree that there should be a more diverse height scale for viera in general to satisfy both sides of the fence, the female viera height debate had a lot of people in it, a lot of males, who weren’t going to play viera either. They just wanted a bunch of frans running around. You may suspect all you want who is going to play male viera, but don’t single out a group of players and insult them because they like something different than you.

1. There is no insult; if you play a female Miqo'te and that's pointed out, that's a statement. Your preference is short and cute.
2. I was heavily involved/read every post of the (female) Viera thread from 2015-2019, I can tell you clearly that the majority there were female players, and those that played male would express how they would explicitly make their main character a female Viera. The dynamic is very different from what I've seen in this thread and in the male Viera thread. The caveat is that sure, they can express how they feel, no one said they couldn't, we're just making the observation.

I was a female viera through 5.2 I also work in the medical field and haven’t had as much time to play as I would like. You don’t know me, don’t make assumptions about me. The thing that irritates me is I literally agreed with what you wanted and you are still insulting me. I’ve been miqote for about a week, before I was an AuRa, before that viera. I play Altmer in ESO and night elves in WoW. You have no right whatsoever to tell me what I like.

For example, Au Ra, Roe are extremes. In both height and build. Therefore, they shouldn't be used as a basis. Elezen are tall-very tall. Lalafell would be an extreme on the short end.

The argument that seems to be being made in this thread, is over equal representation of races. Again, that argument falls flat, If we want to take in account the distribution of of every player race, short males are the ones who are actually underrepresented in this game.

That's not how average height works; you're making a 3D modeling argument where they use the easiest body (base) to make it easier for them to create 3D assets or in game lore argument. Neither one has a bearing on what the height average of the game is. Hyur is average in philosophical terms, not in terms of height.

You keep talking about how you want a tall handsome race, how you feel forced by the options available to you. Well, pot meet kettle, races with restrictions make other players feel forced to play something else. It doesn’t exactly mean it’s something we ultimately like. Female options beside viera and roe are all anime cute by design. Even highlanders have cutesy emotes. Don’t make assumptions about people. Don’t target groups of people. Make your points without insulting others just because you want something. You think it’s proving your points, but it’s actually doing the opposite.
