    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Season

    Meteorological temperate seasons
Northern hemisphere Southern hemisphere Start date End date
Winter Summer 1 December 28 February (29th if leap year)
Spring Autumn 1 March 31 May
Summer Winter 1 June 31 August
Autumn Spring 1 September 30 November
The Wikipedia literally says "As noted, a variety of dates and even exact times are used in different countries or regions to mark changes of the calendar seasons."

So it's different for everyone and using Japan's definition of seasons is misleading to players who have an earlier winter. I mean, did anyone actually think "December 20th" in their head when they announced Fall 2021?

We really can't find anything else to complain about so it comes down to semantics like this?

Really need to get a hobby if thats the case, they gave a 100% official date, and that date is absolutely officially within fall

Anyways I'm not here to debate when a season starts but I think most people are not thinking late November/early December when we heard "fall 2021". That's my point really.

It's still fall. Your perception doesn't change that lol.

For Northern hemisphere, fall is end of Sept to end of Dec.

Except it isn't just Japans. That is the astrological date for the start of fall. Being Astrological it applies to all countries in eth Northern Hemisphere including the US. Hell Winter term for schools typically don't start until December in the US

In the northern hemisphere, winter is the time period between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. Not "when it snows". It doesn't matter where you live. I weep for your education system.

While 'the leaves are falling' and 'first snow' etc nice symbolic gestures they're not used as actual measurements of when seasons begin. Especially when it comes to something specific like a game's release date.

I was hoping the game would be out earlier than November too but this is still perfectly within 'Fall.'

Also as a side note on comments about fall being differently defined in different places...this is a Japanese video game, so of course if we are going to look at one specific definition, it would be the Japanese one anyway. Not American or European. What do you want them to do give a list of different release windows based on region? Fall was perfectly fine for the date we landed on.

That people don't know how seasons work is not SE's problem though. What some people think is Fall doesn't suddenly mean they should ignore the clearly defined dates and put an objectively wrong Winter as the timeframe.

and over in my corner of the EU I didn't see snow until mid-january, it stuck for like two days and then I didn't see any until April of all months.

Hello, I live in Canada, the official start of winter is December 21st here.

Where I grew up, there was a general pattern of one big snow storm in November (still autumn), then nothing with permanence until probably late December. Not only that, sometimes we would see snow until April and May, which is clearly spring. If you want to base it off of weather, it won't be consistent even throughout the country. Where I live now, snow is a regular sight in the mountains, but not at all common in the city to the point that a measly 5cm can ruin a commute for many. :V
