I don't think the argument of "if the old guard all unsub.." has ever worked. It didn't work with EQ or WoW.Having not read through the entire thread, I honestly see this as a good thing. When players can make a clean break from a game, it provides a healthier feedback system as players who are unhappy with the state and direction of a game can quit, and if enough players quit, game developers can reassess their plan for the game. On the other hand, if not enough players quit even when they can, or if enough new players take the place of those who did quit, then the game developers can be more confident in the direction they have for the game.
