Bloodborne outfit similarities aside, everything else doesn't scream Bleach (Didn't Hollow Ichigo simply made use of the same sword Ichigo did? It was Rukia who used a scythe and that was in a movie). If anything, I get--dare I say it--Kingdom heart's D A R K N E S S vibe from it.

Yoshi: Everyone in the community, especially the western community had been very vocal about the idea of using a scythe as a weapon for at least 3 to 4 years now. When we were thinking about what a new job should be, the concept of a job that not only relies solely on their own power, but something external had become a central idea. Eventually, I decided there should be an additional avatar/minion fighting for the player and its appearance will change as the special meter fills up.

When someone suggested a high-school syndrome-ish *1 idea: a job where its power gets increasingly more intense as the battle goes on- the idea was immediately agreed by the whole team. It is easy to visualise how something like this would look, so it was easy for the design team too.

(*1: Basically, a term use to describe high schoolers undergoing puberty trying to act cool with angsty poses: like covering one of their eyes etc. and pretending they are trying to suppress their inner power)
