    Super Hard Mode -- Are there not already areas with level 99 mobs? One could try clearing those!
    Super Super Hard Mode -- NMs hit you for 9999 damage the moment you zone in. (You wanted a challenge yes? ^^

    If they do a super hard mode, I hope it is not made 'hard' by introducing more lag or being more picky on requiring you to stand in even smaller 'safe spots', or decreasing drop rate from 1% to 0.001%.

    It can be challenging to introduce a super hard mode without making it silly. Am curious what people think/want when they hear 'super hard mode'.

    Make difficult content is easy :
    -Just make it all hit one shot players.
    -Make it so that you don't have time to revive the fallen.
    -Make it so that mob has very high HP so that it take very long time to beat.
    -Make it so that any little lag can kill player instantly.
    -Make it so that you have to do a lot of time sink in order to spawn the mob.
    -Make it so that the drop rate very suck badly.

    Make "fun" content is the hard part. and this is what they need more.
    So far, was there any content in this game that make you feel like "This is really enjoyable! This is fucking good!!" at all ?

    For me, the 'challenging/fun' content is when I had to solo a tough mob and I knew I had to optimize my use of all my skills. Land all of my spells. Invest in the right gear (but not over the top/expensive gear). And come up with the right strategy on how to defeat that mob.

    At no point was I faced with lag, or one-shotting, or have to do 10 hours of boring content to try it out. In some ways, it was like how the Maat fight was a bit of a fun challenge.

    Btw, how would everyone feel that if you went into a super hard mode instance, the mobs you face are based on the jobs you go in as?

    You want to go in as GLD/CNJ/ARC/ARC/ARC/ARC/ARC/ARC. You will be faced with the same, and they are all eager to show you their nice shiny new super powerful bows.

    This. The game needs to be fun, not hard. When you add harder content you restrict it to a certain group of classes...they should just do stuff in an entertaining way, like we had Assault, Salvage, BCNMs and even dynamis, where certain classes were good but stacking them or not didn't matter at all.

    This game lacks fun, which is terrible to it...and harder content won't add fun to it...it will actually cause the opposite.

    I'd like to see "Hard mode" content only if this implies an alliance team. 8 players is nice for random stuff, but endgame should sometimes propose something balanced for 2x8 or so.

    ... You don't know what even is an hard mode in other mmos..... not simply hit for 9999 >.>

    Salvage is the worse possible example, due to the cell system + bad drop rate, you had to be efficient party wise, meaning no more than 8 players. Some classes were just completely useless compared to others.

    Salvage had so stereotypical party formation... MNK x2 / RDM / THF / BRD + toss one BLM/SCH~WHM~2nd RDM~nonMNK DD with very good gear in there (I used to Salvage with NIN and DRK, but that was only because the NIN had a Mythic + Relic and DRK had a relic). Entering with more people always meant less chance to get what you are after, since everything could be completed with 6 to 8 players, no point is having extra useless classes participating. No one was doing salvage with PLDs...

    BCNMs, are you serious there? Where half of them were only manaburned and the exclusive property of BLMs? Same here, and if it wasn't BLM, it was always a particular party setup that would fit that very BCNM, was completely far from being open to everyone.

    Dynamis yes, if not Tav. That's only because of the 64/36 players limitation, which enable you to invite any class, also full clearing Dynamis was challenging with a low amount of players (or even impossible in Dreamlands), so having more players wouldn't be an issue drop wise, it would just scale properly. More players = more drop.

    Assault? Just like BCNMs for some of them, not all class were welcomed. Some could be done by anyone yeah (and that was cool).

    (note: I'm talking to the pre-lol-abyssea XI)

    Nyzul stands out to me as one of the most fun and challenging things in FFXI.

    Limbus was also difficult, yet fun. Anyone who remembers the Ultima Weapon fight when Citidel Buster was counting down on some poor Taru WHM knows exactly what I'm talking about.

    Actually, the entire set of CoP story missions where very challenging (pre-nerf) and hold some of my best memories of the game.

    SE really got it right with CoP.
