They're not making a new piece of armor, no. They're changing the ways it's able to stretch and move so it's able to be shaped to the models properly because the way FF14 does gear when you wear boots, for example, your feet disappear and are replaced by the boots fitting over your models bones.

I never said remaking. Thay was your word.
    I said remodeling.

Nope, they don't. Same body, same rigging.

I will strongly doubt that. The easiest example for this is to check how the Summer Indigo Shirt unbuttoned segment shoots outwards on Hrothgar due to their default stance.

Nope they aren't. Again, see Hrothgar's Summer Indigo Shirt

I don't understand what the Indigo Shirt is supposed to show me. Can you elaborate?

I haven't seen it but I assume it clips into the Hrothgar's hips in certain idle stances since cloth physics are basically nonexistent in this game...or maybe the sleeves clip into the body. I've sometimes even seen armor pieces clip into themselves when they have multiple parts to them and the weights on the individual pieces aren't correct.

Meanwhile this is how it looks on Roe and Hyur, much closer fitted to the body.

If they DID take the time to adjust every armor to the new races idle stances and animations then yeah, I'd agree that it takes an insane amount of work to do that for every existing armor. But they don't, and a lot of armors end up clipping when using animations. So the argument of "too much work to rig every armor to Hrothgar/Viera" is at least disingenuous.

It's also rather worrying that what headgear we DID get for male Hrothgar and female Viera was apparently made by the devs on their off time.
Agreed on this. Square Enix and Yoshi P are the ones that have access to the numbers so if they say the cost-benefit is not worth it for the time and resources they have available I'd believe them

Disagree on this. They don't have to and actually don't do that as shown above.

As you can see the unbuttoned segment of the shirt shoots out like a skirt on Hrothgars because it was not adjusted to compensate for Hrothgar's hunched stance. It's just rigged to the Roegadyn body they use.

Sorry I can't take better screenshots but I ended up not buying/crafting the shirt due to how silly it ends up looking.

Nobody is trying to argue that it doesn't take a lot of time to add new races and I'm actually one of the people that thinks they shouldn't add more.

What we're saying is that "rigging the gear to the new races" is not one of the reasons why it's so much work, because they don't actually have to do that (well, besides hats).
