There has to be something for us. I find it hard to believe that after more than 2 years they aren't going to provide these races with anything new. One can hope that it'll be revealed at Fan Fest.

I think there will be a major fit if there's not even a mention of bun and cat boy updates. Even just a "We're working on it" is enough for me (it'd an obvious answer that wouldn't appease many but lowest rung on a ladder is still a step up)
You're right that it wouldn't appease many because that's basically what they already said in the art stream, repeating it again wouldn't be much of a step up.
If they have nothing else, an apology would be needed. Not that I think game devs gotta be apologizing for everything but knowing the company and Yoshi-P, that would be something in their line of thinking. But please....please just word that we're getting updates is good. Don't gotta have the physical proof (please though) just tell us something is going to happen and soon.
Oh yeah, it would definitely be better than just ignoring it altogether again, it just rings a bit hollow if we got another "we're working on it please look forward to it".If they have nothing else, an apology would be needed. If they have nothing concrete to show then ideally I'd like them to go into a bit of detail about just what their plan is for each race individually.
It's been brought up in this thread before that the few times they've spoken about it they talk about them as a unit, when both races have different issues and a different 'design philosophy', for lack of a better word.
I'm going into watching the letter, under the impression that nothing will be mentioned about either race, at least then if something as weak as "We're working on it" is mentioned it a bitter yet somewhat pleasant surprise.
I want the bolded a lot more than more hairstyles. Even if it's not likely.I'm sure that they mentioned something about Fur patterns being the Hairstyles for the Hort, however even if that memory is true, 5 is not a great number and the kicking in the teeth to make you pay real money to swap between the two hairstyles that are linked to your face is just poor decision making, and show a lack of understanding simple thing players like. which is to create an avatar that they want.
I do miss my Hrot, however, they need to go back and redesign them. All hairstyles should work on all faces, and the option to walk with a straight back is also needed. Why is it that most games that have a beast race always have to make them hunched over.. ??
I understand going back and updating all helms is asking a lot, but JOB gear should fit all races. same as all gear brought off the mogstation.
I want to be optimistic, but really am not holding my breath for the live letter.. if nothing is said, then I'll be staying as a boring Highlander, cause at least then I know I'll be able to wear everything that the game implements from hairstyles to hats.
MMORPG designers have this dumb notion that beast races need to have uncivilized-like animations like WoW Taurien or something. If Hrothgar are based on Ronso, the decision is even dumber. Ronso don't have problems standing or walking straight. It's not particularly sensible even considering Hrothgar their own thing either, since nothing about their lore suggest they're any more uncivilized than a Roegadyn.

I think the reason hrothgar are like that is because the developers were attempting to make a race that is more familiar to players of WoW who played such races and wanted an analog in FFXIV. It doesn't really have anything to do with lore and has much more to do with the fact that ARR was built from the beginning to take parts of other successful MMORPGs and staple them in and the dev team has continued to do so since.I want the bolded a lot more than more hairstyles. I feel that's a bit to deep, yes WoW's Orcs are hunched over, however, they now have a straight back option which came in BFA i think it was. . so that making it familiar for wow players doesn't really workI think the reason hrothgar are like that is because the developers were attempting to make a race that is more familiar to players of WoW who played such races and wanted an analog in FFXIV. For me, it's a bit more simple than that tho, they have a hunch else they just a Roegadyn with a cat face..
just a shame we won't be able to get a /Posture or a tick box on the Aesthetician
Yoshi-P has already said that he's a WoW player and it's very evident a lot of the game mechanics come straight out of GW2 and WoW. FATEs are basically the exact same as the mechanic in GW2, and before Yoshi-P took over, FF had nothing like the dungeons, raids, and trials we have now, which are apparently more like WoW than FFXI. Then there's also the duty finder, which is apparently another thing taken from WoW. Part of the reason ARR did so well compared to 1.0 is that Yoshi-P, unlike the previous director, is an MMO player and he took everything that worked from other MMOs and wrapped it up into a single package.I feel that's a bit to deep, yes WoW's Orcs are hunched over, however, they now have a straight back option which came in BFA i think it was. . so that making it familiar for wow players doesn't really work

I didn't know that orcs were hunched over, but aren't the tauren a hunched race? I would think that the hrothgar being more beastly are meant to fill the "hunched beast race" niche like WoW's tauren and GW2's charr. This is what Yoshi-P had to say on hrothgar:
I also don't understand why people keep making roegadyn comparisons. Every other race in the game except for lalafell use the hyur skeleton. Yet no one calls the other races "long hyur" or "hyur but with cat ears".After seeing the positive reception of the Lupin characters we introduced in Stormblood, we concluded that, for the long-term health of FFXIV, it was important to implement a greater variety of character types beyond the traditionally beautiful in a future expansion. In truth, we had considered adding more beastly characters long before, and since this was possibly our last chance to do so, we decided that we should—much like we did with the Viera—in the interests of expanding the lore and the choices available to players.
Character creation is about providing players with options, and while there’s no telling how many people will utilize these options, we also believe that there is value simply in having them exist—in empowering people to fill the world with greater variety.
