REQUEST: Replace the Current Land Purchase Mechanic With A Weighted Lottery

I could absolutely see there being a lottery system, and I do agree it would massively help the purchase part of the equation.

I'm not really sure they would have any way to tell who was waiting for how long where to weight the odds though. Honestly, if anything, that system would actually just encourage more sign squatting rather than discourage it.

Did you read my post in it's entirety? They could very easily keep track of who is in what queue for exactly how long. I detailed plainly how to weigh the queues. The system would neither encourage nor discourage squatting any more so than the current system. But it would save countless user hours.

As someone who has lost the NewEgg shuffle every day for the last two months, the result is still disappointment in the end.

You would feel worse having sat for 12 hours waiting to lose. Assuming that's not a requirement of that promotion. No reason not to improve the user experience and save time.

Oh yes. A weighted lotto, because bot farmers with thousands of bots should be able to put in enough tickets to own all the houses forever.

Bot farmers can still do the same now, but you won't have lost but a fraction of your time in the alternative I've suggested.

We are not getting lotteries. Timer length needs to be adjusted seriously. It's way too long. Lotteries will only make getting a house harder.

Did you read my post in its entirety. I probably shouldn't have used the world lottery as people seem to take issue with that alone.

A weighted random queue will make getting a house no more or less difficult than it is now, nor deprive the user of any more or less agency.

It will save countless user hours though.

You can request SQEX not recommend we condense feedback anywhere you want.
However, they've told us that for practical reasons they really only review feedback from robust threads full of conversation, and that they basically don't even look at the hundreds of threads about basically identical topics that pop up, last a few pages, and then burn out.

If the purpose of your thread is for the forums to have fun kicking around an idea then a new thread is the perfect place for it~
But if you want your thoughts or feedback to have a shot at making their way past SQEX we should probably respect their request and contribute the thoughts and feedback to existing megathreads.

Yes I have. We're not getting a lottery. Sorry but RNG lottery isn't the answer. I've never had trouble getting a house and I own them on multiple servers, No thank you. Ask them to adjust the timer length that at least would improve the process for many who decide to click a placard.

I'm glad you've had good fortune, and ample time. You've still not provided any reasoning as to why a weighted random queue would make it any more difficult to purchase a house than the current mechanic. Nor have you refuted the claim that it will save time. There's only benefit to the solution I suggest.

My intentions of the post were two fold, to hopefully get eyes at square on it, and to also engage the community, gauge their thoughts, improve the suggested solution, and help generate demand.

I would think that a "robust thread full of conversation" would come naturally from organic posts, not one frankenpost. That's my humble opinion though.

Megathreads make more sense. If you're looking for community engagement on ideas it's easy to check one thread that has engagement versus thirty ten page threads that devolve into yelling matches.
