It's a matter of semantics anyway. Whether you want to say a subscription is for server access, and the purchase price of the expansion is for all the content therein, money changed hands. It is not entitled to have set expectations for content patches, and the quality of the product sold.

It's a very direct and clear offer: subscription fee for server access, while content access is determined by what expansions you own. Everyone is responsible for their own money. It's not your job to be concerned about "saving" people from their own spending choice..
Having the mere possibility to participate in the entire category of content known as housing is an incentive to keep people subbed at least 1 month out of 2 regardless of how interested they are in the game at the moment.
I'd much rather have cosmetics than this.

And I never tried to save people from their spending choices, I'm merely pointing out that buying without giving much thought into what we're buying is very common and it's especially true when it comes to subscriptions.

Just because I'm paying doesn't mean I should not criticize the monetization system of the game, and that's exactly what I'm doing, because it's without the shadow of a doubt the greediest I have personally partaken in.

With the continuous flow of content kept in mind, if I'm paying a sub, I don't want cash shop items I have no way of earning through gameplay.
If there's a cash shop with items I can't earn through gameplay, I don't want a mandatory subscription.
For the content we're getting, I think it should be either one or the other, but as the system is right now, I'll feel like I'll truly be getting my money worth of content once they'll quit cutting content out of the game.

You're right about money having changed hands. So apparently enough people have voted with their wallet that the game is meeting their expectations for content patches, enough to continue paying a subscription. Those who disagree have also voted with their wallet to (temporarily or permanently) unsubscribe.

You're free to like or dislike it, but personally, FFXIV has given me the best content overall at a very good pace out of all the MMORPGs that I've tried. It's also one of the few that has both a mandatory subscription and a cash shop that are essentially cosmetics in nature. It makes me think whether the two are related, and if so, I'd rather more games copy FFXIV's monetization scheme.

I'm confused. As someone who has a laundry list of things I'd like to see in the game, but content enough with my playstyle to keep active in game, should I just shut up? Making criticisms of a product does not equate to saying the product has no redeeming value. In fact, it means you enjoy the product enough to care about it being better.

Also the "just unsub and devs will listen" argument got real old and proved to be a forum debaters fallacy back in 2015.

"just unsub and devs will listen" doesn't work cause there is not enough people who would do that to make a impact.

Not when Yoshi-P himself told people to unsub, play other games and come back when there are new contents that they like

for a year, would you rather be secretly filmed at random moments and have the footage uploaded to your social media or loose $100 when ever you said a curse word?

Eh? More dungeons that play the same with a different coat of paint? You aren't criticizing the right things.

What about the extremely biased and unprofessional class/job designers?

Or the lack of new rewards on all fronts?

Seriously, does anyone still enjoy these "new" dungeons?

FFXIV gives more content per year then any other MMO I've ever played and I've been playing MMOs since Ultima Online. That includes WoW and SWTOR back when they were purely sub based. The amount of content in this game is overwhelming to the point that I actually think it is impossible for someone to get all achievements in the game and every couple of months they add more content.

I really love when people say just unsubscribe or when Yoshi P says hey you don’t have to play this game 24/7 you can unsubscribe and play something else. Yet, because of their horrible housing system, you literally cannot stay unsunbbed for more than 30 days if you want to keep your house lmao. It’s such a contradiction to that statement. So in regards to your “they stopped veteran rewards because they didn’t want people to have to subscribe for a long time to earn rewards”, yeah no. They still hold people to their sub because of housing. As for veteran rewards though i don’t think that’s even the reason they gave. Pretty sure they said it’s because they couldn’t figure out what to actually give us as veteran rewards anymore(which is pretty funny because they can come up with mogstation items perfectly fine hm?). As for the dungeons that i saw someone mention. I personally haven’t enjoyed any of the new dungeons. The base shb dungeons were great in terms of difficulty and everything, but after cosmos everything just seemed to have plummeted. And yoshi p says they want to streamline dungeons even more and make them easier which is just absolutely baffling to me. They seem so out of touch with the playerbase.
