Tired of Zenos (spoilers)

Fandaniel is poor man's Kefka. Just like Garlemald is pretty much the Gestahlian Empire from FF6. All the way down to attire. And their advanced Magitek technology.

Fandaniel is also building this big magitek tower atop the Imperial Palace in Garlemald much like Kefka built his atop the ruins of the Imperial Palace in Vector. You know, a lot of people talk about the FFIV references with the moon and all but Endwalker seems to have more references to FFVI then it does to IV.

He's interesting only so far as my own personal headcanons about my WoL go... as a reflection of what they fear they could become someday, as a person who is ever growing stronger, ever facing stronger and bigger and more world-ending threats. What happens when there's nothing stronger left to fight? What happens when the challenges stop? Because they have to eventually, right? Either they'll find something they can't beat or they'll find themselves at the top, and there's some part of them that lives for the fight, for the challenge, so what do they do with that when there's no challenge left? What could they become when the fight is over?

As his own character though, I mean. He's a cartoon cutout 2D villain whose motivation toes the line between refreshing in its simplicity and utterly boring in its lack of depth. So, you love him or you hate him. Doesn't seem to be much in between.

A lot more of those references popped up on Stormblood... but maybe they will come back in Endwalker too. Castrum Abania was effectively the Magitech Research Facility in Vector. Zenos, I think, they wanted to have be their Kefka with being an early attempt at gaining the resonant, but he's just not compelling... so they gave him Fandaniel to hang around (or you could see them as being a variation on Ghestal and Kefka) and Fordola is a parallel to Celes with being an enchanced imperial general who switched sides to fight with the resistance.

And then there's the obvious allusions with Doma being the city destroyed by the empire with the eastern theme that even plays the Doman theme from FF6

XIV has had VI references thrown all around since ARR.
Even Thancred's initial motivation is similar to Locke's.

I hope the parallel of Fandaniel with Kefka means he ends up outliving Zenos. Because I legit much prefer him over that Bleach-tier antagonist.

Since we now know FF4 is the inspiration for the next expansion... Will Zenos be the Zeromus of this game? They certainly both sound alike.

Based on what I read on wiki, I actually think fandaniel is the one that going to be our zeromus. But I won't object if Zenos will be the one.
