No, not everyone with good rng is bad. My point was that it often sucks when someone who barely put in any effort gets it and you've been farming a while. It's more the meme that EVEN the devs put out with the 8 bit titan farm vid from years ago. Also, that point wasn't central to what I was saying. It anecdotal. Like the when I mentioned taking a tb as a dps. In most replies, no one seems to be answering the questions about how letting people buy their mounts the moment they get 99 rather than wait 2 patches would change player behavior (considering many if not most who farm simply stop after they reach 99). It really isn't having the intended effect. For it to have the effect of keeping most of the hard core farmers going past 99, they would honestly all together remove the ability to purchase mounts with tokens. At this point it's literally just get to 99 and buy 6 months later for most. I knew people would come in with minds made up but wow...

I legit said not everyone stops at 99. I am one of those who doesn't stop at 99. Even if I have the mount. I enjoy the fights and I like helping people clear. I wish people would read what I wrote.

I intended to create a thread aswell when I would get to a certain amount of token but someone did it before:
Lads, I'm at 650 tokens which means 325 runs. I've met people with 600 tokens and 700 tokens and never saw anyone beyond 760.
That's around 54h hours of active farming. Excluding wipes, party researching and prog.
50 hours is far enough time to practice and clear an ultimate or clear a savage tier.
Strangely, I've had to buy no mounts in HW, 1 in SB but during ShB I had to 99 all of them except Emerald.
There's no point holding the purchasable mount for patches, it doesn't keep the content alive more than that, a lot of people stops at 99 (not all of them) except for the last mount.
Or you see people waiting the mount drop increase to actively start farming.
At least let us buy the mount for 200 totems then reduce the price 2 patches later if you want to keep "But the content will die!!!" as an excuse.
There's still people out there farming HW, SB and previous ShB mounts.
I really doubt the content will die without the tiny percentage of players who get extremely unlucky and end up needing over 100 runs. I never understood that argument. The greater majority of players will either stop at 99, ignore the content until echo + drop rate increase or the mount will drop before 99 kills. The players who keep going after 99 are probably 2% or so.
If you managed to kill an EX trial as current content a hundred times, you deserve the mount. You've done your part to keep the content alive. Besides, the devs relying on a small handful of players getting extremely unlucky and still grinding away for 200-500 kills to fill groups for their content would be poor game design, cruel and burn-out inducing. I doubt it's their intention (or at least hope so).

It's also counterproductive. If you managed to kill an EX trial as current content a hundred times, you deserve the mount. You've done your part to keep the content alive. I'll be honest, I'm extremely frustrated that I had to do 300 runs and still don't have a mount yet.
Frustration leads to negative interaction with other players. A wipe is wasted time that piles up on your already hundreds of runs because of someone. It's a good thing I don't interact with others.
I'm also barely looking at my screen anymore and I'm sure it's the case for many others players. This leads to mistakes due to being used to the mechanics and now bored of it.
Simply put? It's much better to allow the mount to be purchased on the Extreme release that holding it, it'll only results in more frustration.
Give me my mount, Square Enix, at this point I can't stop, it would be too much wasted time for nothing.

You'd be surprised how many people will actually keep going simply because they don't want to wait six months. Look at how many people throw real money at the Mogstation when 8-12 months later that same item will have a 30% off sale.I really doubt the content will die without the tiny percentage of players who get extremely unlucky and end up needing over 100 runs. I never understood that argument. The greater majority of players will either stop at 99, ignore the content until echo + drop rate increase or the mount will drop before 99 kills. The likely intent from the devs is for players to farm periodically throughout the six month window; the whole "take breaks" rhetoric they preach. They're also assuming the players more likely to farm beyond 99 tokens are the better players who will "pick of the slack for inexperienced players." Something to keep in mind, is this sort of constant grind is quite common for Eastern games. And JP PF is extremely active. There is no doubt this system is very much intentional.
You say it's counterproductive... yet you did exactly what they wanted you to. We can argue whether the same is fair or not, however the results speak for themselves. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if the two tokens Diamond drops is them experimenting with how much it impacts PF.

It's counterproductive in the way people that do it again and again over the 99 required totem are frustrated. Which negatively impact the PF.
This topic has been created for a reason. And it's also counterproductive in the way before the last mount, many stops at 99.
We're fed up with it but because we're so deep we can't stop yet.
I did what they wanted, farming Diamond EX.
But man, I'm broke. I'm tired of this and I cannot stop. Statistically, I should be close of getting the mount.
I'll stop at 999, I hope.
If intentional it's poor design which goes against their "if it's not fun you're doing it wrong" mentality. It's not really fair to have people paying for your product and then take advantage of their desire for an item to get countless hours of work out of them, carrying your other customers through EX trials. Then when those players completely burn out, you shrug and tell them to take breaks because they're only a minority and kept a larger number of lucky players happy with mounts and easier clears. The likely intent from the devs is for players to farm periodically throughout the six month window; the whole "take breaks" rhetoric they preach. They're also assuming the players more likely to farm beyond 99 tokens are the better players who will "pick of the slack for inexperienced players."
100 runs is enough. It's a lot of EX trials, they've done their part. If that somehow isn't keeping their content alive, it should be up to them to explore other more enjoyable avenues or incentives.
Also to note, I own the Diamond EX mount and it dropped quite early, so no bias on my part there.
If you feel it's mindless drudgery, why are you doing it instead of doing other things you don't feel are mindless drudgery?
That's a basic problem with some people. Possessing a virtual reward in the game is more important to them than doing things that are fun. There are a lot of rewards in this game that I would like to have but don't because I don't find the content fun or worth repeating. There are plenty of other rewards from content I do find fun and worth repeating to keep me satisfied.
Ask yourself how much you are going to use the reward once you have it. If you're not going to be using it, what was the point of getting it?
