    1 map per CHARACTER. . . ;3

    No stockpiling for anyone! lol

To go off the point that it's not very convenient system, no it's not lol. It's interesting in what it does to the value of them, and making them even more restricted would boost it further (rather than letting people stock them). But it indeed adds an inconvenience. The mail option seeming to be one of the more O_o work arounds, since you can have quite a few that way lol.

Wonder if they could let players store 1 per type of map (up to x?), and then maybe add a system to that where higher tier maps can be used to upgrade lower tier maps in chance for good items / portal (can add a soul bound concept, each value increasing luck, with perhaps platue moments so you can feel confident in the value- like adding 200k gil worth of maps, or whatever, is going to at least return 150k, don't have to pray to RNGeus that you're not a fool).

That way someone who perhaps doesn't have loads of time might just collect maps as they're playing and keep fusing it into lower tier variants and at the end of the week have a very high chance to get good stuff. Maybe to prevent it messing up PF, where everyone would be like "resplendent map or kick", it might be you can use any tier higher or equal to party map and upgrade it to a solo map (making the solo maps higher chance to be worth while). Meanwhile the party maps get away with some of their inconvenience by the nature that you should be in a group with each person having a map, so more maps to have done before needing to go back to town.

If you wanted to cyclone map consumption even harder might have something the other way like any* x solo map + y (tomes?) can be used to create Z consumable item. Maybe it's a special item that causes the chest you're at to repop. Meaning you go to location, do your thing, it's a normal chest, use the item within a certain time frame of completion, chest resets and you go again (chance at items / portal). Which would increase value of maps that are not normally worth as much (since people would be probably buying the cheapest maps first).

*Any would most likely have to change to some rule, for balance, but I just don't want to think of it right now lol (10 1k gil maps wouldn't balance repoping a 90k gil party map, someone on the balance side of things to think of- simply having the consumption narrative in the equation would generate a strong opportunity for value increase being my point).

Kind of an aside but I thought it would be fun for monsters and fates to sometimes drop maps or treasures (of not the exact type as the treasure hunt system), if it was a treasure map it would of course be within the zone and perhaps not take up a slot but be timed.

I'd be up for giving maps a ranking system. So you can stock unlimited rank I maps, but only one each of rank II and III, with the current highest level ones being the rank IIIs, and the previous ones with portals being the rank IIs.
