Level 35 Paladin quest is literally impossible

Trolling aside, some job quests are more difficult than others. I haven't done PLD yet, but I struggled a bit with the SAM level 54 quest. The guy you're supposed to kill hits like a mack truck while hardly taking any damage from you at all. The only way I'm ever able to beat him is to run away from him, use potions, and keep the DOT up on him. Otherwise, he can kill you in a two or three hits.

Every other job quest I've done, which is most of them, I haven't really struggled. I have DRK at level 80 and have seen some people complain about some of the quests, but I honestly don't even remember them aside from the reveal that...

Other than that, I have found the job quests are pretty simple. And I do them as soon as they are available.

First RDM, Now PLD? Everyone else who has a max of each of these jobs, and there's a lot - have done it.

Find a video on youtube and do exactly as it says.

The only quests that I struggled at were rogue quests and that one sam quest on the ship. I even had to upgrade my gear when usually I pass quite easily with whatever gear I'm wearing.

I have to defeat these Leapling Ringtails and it is literally impossible to do at level 35! I have failed like 15 times! The most that I was able to slay was six, but after I slayed the sixth, three more instantly show up! By then you are less than 10% health and absolutely NO heals.

Using my mitigation does not help as it has a really long cooldown! During cooldown, I take normal damage. I cannot use Reprisal either because whenever I use it, it aggros a bunch of surrounding non-aggressive monsters and I go down in a hurry so that is off the list.

Four or five of those bastards is enough! How TF do you expect us to kill SIX and THEN deal with three more at once?

I feel that some of these job quests require you to over-level before doing them.

It is literally possible. You probably aren't keeping your gear up to date again.

Also make sure you're equipping gear that specifically lists your job on it (GLA/PLD either by itself or in addition to DRK/GNB/MRD/WAR). That is tank specific gear and has increased Defense/Magic Rating compared to ordinary Disciple of War/Disciple of Magic gear. That's going to reduce the amount of damage you take from normal attacks even before you use any of your defensive cooldowns.

Everyone has healing available to them. It's called Hi-Potion, Mega-Potion, etc. They exist for this very type of situation where you're taking damage faster than you can kill what's attacking you. Have some on hand ready to use if you feel you're taking too much damage. They're usually super cheap on the MB (like 10-20 gil a piece) and very helpful through lower level content when you're solo.

I truly wish we had moderators with free rein to identify and act on patterns of behaviour that never actually meet the threshold for moderation in a single post.

How about go level up some more if you think higher level is needed? It's not like you can't get to lv80 without doing this quest.
I've never done job quest right on level... I even got commented on being lv40+ Lancer (during duty run) that I'd be much stronger if I became DRG.
(They stayed 5 mins commenting on it after we finish the duty... talk about friendliness)
Leveling is so easy these days, and if you feel anguish from failing something so many times, switch to do other things.

I don't put much faith in their ability to keep this place even remotely orderly.
