I reported a player once. Ruby Weapon, I'm SCH and first time, a few other newbies, tank kindly guided the party through it, and I struggled that day. We pulled it off, and halfway in typing said tank a thank you for guiding us, they said "*my character's name* you're a super sh*tty healer, quit playing," and left.

The other players remaining were almost as baffled as I was. I'm typing up a sincere thank you note for helping me with a fight I struggled BAD with, nothing constructive, nothing but bile and bounced out before I could even type anything.

    THAT is reportable toxicity.

Players are not required to provide constructive criticism. Though harsh comments still do provide some valuable information which could give players the push needed to take a look at how they are playing.

I feel for GM’s cause often profanity or “toxic” reports for the most part are probably one off cases. Though rules are rules.

In the end a factual statement toxic or not should not be a reason for offense. Often when people are "toxic" normally there is a reason for it. Rarely do you ever see someone call someone bad or something without cause. Sure being g respectful would be nice but the tone or word choice should not negate truthful statements.

If only people stuck to truthful statements.
I had a Nin recentky chew me out (Suzaku EX) because they died and gave me (AST) an earful for it.
Was their statement true? Their aggressive tone aside, was I an awful healer for letting them die?
The truth of the matter is: they botched a mechanic and were pushed off the edge.
Pretty much every healer I know has no end to anecdotes about someone messing up and blaming the healer for their death.

yes, there is a profanity filter, to stop random mistakes. but like some dev put it somewhere, just because someone wears a bullet proof vest, it doesnt give you license to shoot them

We get like 50 threads a day of people who lost their house complaining they didn’t read any of the many auto demolition emails they received. I assume the in game punishment is to ensure you actually know you’ve been punished in case you just dip for a bit and didn’t even notice you were suspended.

Sure you will run into an asshole every so often does not change the fact people get offended over truthful statements.
