That’s simply not true though, is it? The whole premise of this thread is that SE doesn’t give definitive reasons why you were banned.
The people who pretended they got banned for rescuing from AOEs (when really they were trolling like every single healer did when they introduced Rescue) are no different than the likes of OP swearing and screaming at people then acting bemused when they face repercussions.
3.3 Profanity and Offensive Language. You may not use profanity or any language that a reasonable person would find offensive. The Game is for players aged 13 and older. You agree to behave accordingly.
1) You have to actively turn the swear filter OFF, it is ON by default.Uhh, the filter doesn't exempt you from the Tos.
So if you are swearing, especially at people, yeah, don't do that.
It's not hard to not swear in chat. Especially since it's not like voice where it can just come out. You have to type it and hit enter.
But just put in a gm report in game asking for one to come talk to you.
2) If you have the swear filter turned OFF, you are clearly comfortable with swear words.
What do you people want? A legaleze text bubble saying "By turning this filter off you recognize that you might see words you find uncomfortable"?
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
You're being punished, have you considered the 'waste of time' aspect may be intentional? It's not supposed to be convenient for you, the person being punished.
I'm not the one reporting people. I'm just explaining the reasoning.1) You have to actively turn the swear filter OFF, it is ON by default.
2) If you have the swear filter turned OFF, you are clearly comfortable with swear words.
What do you people want? A legaleze text bubble saying "By turning this filter off you recognize that you might see words you find uncomfortable"?
Don't "you people" me.
Also, it's entirely possible someone may turn it off so they know specifically what is being said.
There are people out there who would use language in a manner no one is OK with.
This is also a reason to turn it off. Normal words get hit by the filter. Heck in one game I play, the word class is censored, and it's basically a necessary word when talking about warships....

I know I have to turn the filter off because it filters words like grape and cockatrice
It's a waste of time for the GM as well though. To me the whole GM jail song and dance just seems like a step that could be skipped all together given that in most cases (that I've heard about) the decision as to what punishment you'll receive is already made anyway.
I wonder if it's because you could do something, get reported, tossed in jail while offline and say - the punishment is a 3 day suspension. But if the punishment starts automatically when you get tossed in jail and you aren't online to know it and you don't happen to log in to play the game for another 5 days - there really was no punishment because the 3 day suspension happened during then? I mean i don't know if that's the reason, but I could see it being something like that.
