I’m very close to saying F it and just going back to being a bun and dealing with 5 hairstyles.

There’s a sense of sunk cost fallacy, I think, in that comes with the time, gil, and money spent on collecting old hairstyles, and I think I’m ready to just eat it and play the race I wanted since we knew FFXIV’s devs decided to add more race options.

I have given up on buns and hrathgar will get anything. I feel it's on the back burner like egi glam and dancer/gunbreaker craft weapons.

That's what finally made me stick to it. I just shift my hair and hats off to my au ra alt, which scratches the itch until I realize the hair isn't the same without a pair of fluffy bunny ears attached.

Lol I do the same with my alt. And it really isn’t the same! I saw some pics on Twitter of hairstyles ported onto buns and I’m telling you it’s a crime we can’t use them!

But I stick with viera because I love them anyway. I complain a lot about hair but at the end of the day I do think they did a great job designing them sans the whole head situation. And contrary to what I’ve seen people say since their announcement, I feel they do add something different to the game! I switched a lot before viera came out because I didn’t quite vibe with any of the races that I liked the aesthetic of- they were either too energetic (miqo, highlander) or overly cutesy (au ra). Viera hits that nice spot of mature and strong, but still very pretty. I can see why they get a bad rep for lackluster emotes if someone is used to more energetic ones but for the most part I quite like them.

I was in the same boat! I was constantly using fantasia to swap between elezen and miqote. I wanted the wild wood elf aesthetic, but hated their animations. Miqote was just as wild but way too immature for my taste, and definitely not an elf.

Though not technically an elf, Viera checks off a lot of boxes that I wanted. Especially as someone who played a ton of night elves on WoW, they carry a very similar vibe. Long af ears and all

Yeah I think the emotes are great, a bit aloof and restrained suits Viera perfectly I feel.

I don't have any alts so I'm gonna wait it out (for now at least, knowing how I am ) and see what they actually end up doing, if anything.

Hard Disagree.
Its kinda fun to have an ALT. I play a Female Character as a Main, so Im missing out on other types of Glamours...plus I currently cant play as a Female Beastman, so I have a Male Beastman ALT.
And when Im all caught up and have everything I want/need....I can do it all again on my ALT.

Why would I do this when I can do everything on 1 character?...cause I do really like this game

I'd rather go through the MSQ a few times than constantly spend real money in Fantasia, and likely having my wardrobe and retainers explode with clothing

It's not a waste of time if you get enjoyment out of it. If you find it to be a waste then it is a waste for you and that's perfectly valid.

I have a lot of alts. I play them for a change in scenery. I like playing as many different races but I don't want to use a fantasia on my main. So with alts I get to have my cake and eat it too. My main doesn't change, and I still get to enjoy being a different race.

I also really enjoy experiencing the msq again and seeing how different some scenes are purely because of being a different race. Sure New Game + is here now and while I think it's great you don't get the same sense of progression as you do from a character that is doing the msq for the first time. I also have fc rooms and apartments on my alts and I have decorated them quite differently on each character. I think it's fun to express how different the people who I think my characters are by having a variety of appearances in how they look and the little homes they live in.
