The rigidness of this games entire backend continues to astound me.Oh shoot, this came up last month but I can't find Yoshi's response.
Basically, he said for things like Orchestrion scrolls that data is physically kept in a different computer than the ones that tracks your regular inventory... and these computers aren't able to talk to each other.
The game can check if you have a minion or not while rolling on it because minion info is stored in that second bank, not the one that tracks your Orchestrion scrolls.
He said that making those systems talk to each other so when you're rolling on loot it could mark what you have, or prevent you from rolling on it... would create an unmanageable amount of extra traffic between them.
Maybe the game will be able to track what Orchestrion scrolls you have better in the future, but I would not hold my breath on this change : (
