This is exactly it. The voice over G'raha at the end of 5.3 should be the G'raha we have. He was serious in the face of the coming threat. Someone who knows terrible things are afoot and potentially is willing to deal with it in a mature manner befitting his history and role in it.

The 5.4 and 5.5 iteration erased all of that and made him a caricature of a border line predator who won't take anything serious because its the fun adventure he always wanted. This personality was unwarranted makes him not the mature and wise person he was on the First.
