I was going to jump in that many pieces in this game have dangling bits that would go great on a belt slot... I had at one point suggested they move these pieces to that slot, but we all heard the fate of belts.

A toggle off for skirts and dangles is a highly requested feature in so many MMOs
Why do all these games attach so many odds and ends to tops? Is it just because it's easier to model?

They are probably even coded as belt slots, as a legacy component from orig FFXIV where belts had visuals. At least some of the earlier plate armours have the belt visual merged with the top.

The actual biggest sin they make when it comes to their gear design choices has nothing to do with the fact that body pieces usually contain the skirt. It has nothing to do with the fact that most of their footwear are variations of thigh high boots, that they are so determined to make everything asymmetrical that they add just outstandingly bad elements to pieces of gear like single strange spikes coming out of the side of your arm or whatever that big poofy thing is on the handkinds crafting shirt. Nor does it come from the fact they have no idea what kind of overall aesthetic they want to have in the game, so they just throw it all in without rhyme or reason. Is the game High Fantasy? Modern? Anime? Cyber Punk? Old West? Fortnite-esk? (although this is number 2 on the list).

The actual biggest sin is that when you dye something it does not dye that color, but a variation of that color dependent on the base color of the piece and nearly the whole thing becomes different shades of that color instead of single elements of the piece. Oh that and they use so many colors that they do not have dyes for, that between the colors mixing and the lack of dyes, it is impossible to match certain pieces of gear unless you go pure black or pure white.

Yeah I must say I really don't like that the dress is attached to the upper body

If I had a gil every time my gear dyes pink when using red dye....

Also why is some gear dyable and some aren't, all dungeon gear should be dyable since it's basically just for glamours

so apparently the only option that doesn't "stress the newbies" is either pressing 1211111111, or do nothing at all.

It's always irritating when you see a pic of the gear thinking that you like the top part and not the bottom, and have this glam idea for the top. Then you find out later when you're trying to buy just top from the vendor, that the "bottom" part that you don't want is actually part of the top.

This so much (T_T). The devastating disappointment is real with those pieces.
