It isn't, really. The old Riddle of Earth lasted six seconds, enough time for three weaponskills. The new one lasts ten seconds, but expires after three weaponskills. At most it gives Monk a little time to disengage without losing the buff.

Negating positional requirements has been its thing for a very long time. And all melee DPS have access to True North, which does the same thing.

We have been trying to understand it with my friends because the French and English version don't exactly say the same thing.
The English one seems to say each stack gives 10% dmg reduction and 3 positional-free GCDs, for a total of 3 stacks. So I understand that you technically have 9 GCDs free, and a dmg taken down at 30%, decreasing every stack.
In French it sounds more like you have 10% and 3 GCDs, that's it. (Which is worse than the previous 6 seconds RoE, because monk GCD allows more than 3GCDs in 6 seconds, right?)

The English text says that you get 3 stacks, "each stack reducing damage taken by 10% and nullifying all action direction requirements". This means that when you first use it, you have -30% damage taken. After you use one weaponskill it goes down to -20%. After the second weaponskill, -10%. The protection wears off with the third weapon skill. If you don't use three weaponskills before the 10s pass, you forfeit the remaining stacks of TrueNorth-ish.

Unrelated to its effect, it has 3 maximum charges that recharge one per 30s.
