They should just ban RPing in general to solve the problem.

They should just ban RPing in general to solve the problem.

To summarize a quote from someone else in this thread:
"You can't make gil that way."
i.e. some people open 18+ venues for the sole purpose of making gil off ERP. If they were to go private or limit their crowd, they wouldn't make as much money. I'm willing to bet that some of the people that are getting upset that the ads shouldn't be on the PF (Not that ERP shouldn't exist) are those that are standing to lose a chunk/all of their current income.

Erm, no. Nor would it solve the problem either. RMT is banned. Using parsers is banned. Using mods is banned. Using third party tools is banned. And it seems PF to advertise ERP is banned. And yet all this is still going on regardless. Banning RP would just harm those who are doing the honest thing and not actually solve the problem.
So what you're saying is money goes above the integrity of the PF? Or minors? That's such a ridiculous argument. To summarize a quote from someone else in this thread:

There's endless ways to generate gil in this game. Crafting isn't even the most efficent way to generate gil right now. They have to accept that their greed is not above our community. Also gil has no bearing on this game. It's the reason the developers introduced golden mounts to create a gil sink since economy has little to no relevance apart from housing.
It doesn't go above it. And I don't think they're saying it does either. But there's also people who want to make money that don't care about any of that. And as long as there's that monetary incentive, they're gonna keep doing it.So what you're saying is money goes above the integrity of the PF? Or minors? That's such a ridiculous argument.

1. No. I never said it goes above minors. Please do not put words into my mouth or associate me with anyone who thinks that money is more important than children. So what you're saying is money goes above the integrity of the PF? Or minors? That's such a ridiculous argument.

2. It's a stupid argument but it's also one that exists both in real life and in game. It's as the old saying goes: "Money makes the world go around." People will do shitty things to be rich or get ahead in life. Same goes for online, even more so since you can remain anonymous.
3. If gil doesn't have any bearing on this game then how are gil sellers still fully in business and making tons of cash daily off of people? I highly doubt that people are ONLY spending on housing. You also have to consider that not everyone is 8 years into the game and sitting on capped gil waiting for something to spend on. The majority of people in my FC and many of my friends for that matter don't even have more than 2-3m on them at any point in time because they still are finding things to spend on. Gil is relevant in the game, it just might not be for those who are sitting on full pockets and already bought every glam/mount/minion out there.
4. Welcome to the club, the majority of people in this thread want ERP moved into a private setting and for people to put aside their need for it to be public for the sake of the community.

The love of roleplaying in me aches at this statement and I am quite sure it is trollish in nature but I think there is a minutia of truth in what is said regardless. Roleplaying has devolved into mainly sexually themed events now and days no matter how much I attempt to get back into it. I've yet to find an event I have not been hinted at suggestive themes. Oddly roleplaying is getting hit hard on people advertising, but cheating with bots and hacks is the "normal".
1. I said that because you responded to my statement by saying that they make money off of it, good to know that I was wrong.1. No. I never said it goes above minors. Please do not put words into my mouth or associate me with anyone who thinks that money is more important than children.

2. I couldn't care less about those people and it's a statement which depends entirely on the economy, I have not studied it therefore I will not make any assessments.
3. Those are gil sellers and it's a violation of the ToS. All of them will have their accounts terminated and rightfully so. There are things to buy if you haven't played for a long while, true. You get gil thrown into your face by doing virtually everything. But since those ERP players are making a fortune I don't see how they're not getting everything they wanted by now. By how enthusiastic you described it, it's a good business to be had. Even one more reason to get rid of ERP in public since gil clearly constitutes to let's go way above and smear ERP in everyone's face, cuz muh income.
4. LOL. That sounds like being a contrarian for the sake of being one. Good thing is, most people actually understand why ERP in public is bad. We also learned to dress and not do things out in daylight. Welcome to normality.

Clearly you havent met some of the sellers that are still around after months/years then.1. I said that because you responded to my statement by saying that they make money off of it, good to know that I was wrong.

I'm not here to argue with you on what we already both agree on lmao. You asked, so I answered. I'm sorry that the answer wasn't to your liking and you feel a need to come at me over it, but that's ultimately not my problem.
Your answer at best? It's anecdotal evidence. You haven't yet given any substantial proof that this in general is the reason why ERP players post their recruitment methods on PF. Just because some people said it, doesn't mean it's true for everyone. I don't think gil is their prime motivator. Why? Because you have an equal amount saying they do so to define the category and what they're looking for specifically.Clearly you havent met some of the sellers that are still around after months/years then.

"A need to come at me over it" You're imagining things. I just don't agree with you, that's all. But don't take it personally, okay? xoxo
