Im actually genuinely curious why the GMs are even people now, and now just automated bots, if they are just going to say the same vague thing every time.

Honestly it would save SE a lot of money and you wouldnt have to worry about the bots being harrassed

Taking it from someone who came from a game fully moderated by bots, it's worse. You'll get banned for saying words that aren't even slurs. For example, I got a 3 day ban in my game for saying the word "training". I had a friend get a day mute for saying "food" once, that was hilarious.

I mean people are being banned for saying 18+ right now apparently

Whats the point of not having machines do their jobs then? It could be easy to program a bot to scan chat logs, pull people who curse or do things against ToS into private areas, and recite the exact part of the ToS that was infringed upon without giving any explanation at all with specifics, just as the GMs are doing right now

The point of not having machines do it is:

• Human judgement is still required to determine if the person did something wrong.
• FFXIV team value making you see a scary GM in person instead of receiving an email.
• The GM may need to go off-script to answer questions afterwards.

Because a bot doesn't and won't care about the context of it. they'll just ban you irrespective of whether the context said it was suitable. Not to mention people have a particular knack in bypassing things such as the profanity filter by substituting words- Another prime example of this thread with a guy trying to advertise inappropriate content through the use of an ambiguous term.

It's perfectly logical that they should resort to using a script to maintain consistency. We've already seen how contradictory they can be when being asked questions. What, we already had a GM that seemed to have said as much that advertising erotic roleplay was fine provided it was within the terms of the game, granted this was a while ago. Yet their actions as of late showing a stark contrast to what this GM has said. This is a classical case where not using a script is detrimental. "Yeah but he said, she said"

The most off script ive seen a GM go is p much "Hey sorry, I understand its frustrating but your account is striked no more questions look at the ToS"

I once got auto-mod tsked for naming something “Butterscotch” and it took me a while to figure out it was because it had “butt” in it. Automated mods are definitely worse, lol.

Some MMOs do this and it's not good. FFXIV team make good decisions so it doesn't do it.

If you had actually read the original post, you would know that slapping an age tag onto a PF isn't a punishable offense in and of itself. It's the content within the rest of the listing or the activities inside the venue that are getting players into trouble.

I did read the original posts, and many before it, did you? Several people who were hit by this same GM didnt have offensive language in their ads.

I think the larger issue here is just the language of the GM: I dont want to play charades with you -- just tell me why I am in GM Jail.
