It seems like the "forces of chaos" we're dealing with are the masses of tempered from the towers since there are Garleans, beastmen, and even dragons amid the individuals being fought in the MSQ duties and Pagl'than.
I'm just further questioning what the heck the true nature/purpose of the towers is between their disturbingly organic interiors, the vaguely human-looking figures embedded in their walls, and Zenos' words at the end of the trailer, though.
The 6.0 locales they previewed make me think the Garlean royal palace has been converted into a central tower that the others are siphoning aether to both to bring about the Final Days from the resulting disturbance and to give Zenos the power he longs for...though I expect he's going to be beaten soundly regardless, which will cue him scurrying off to the moon to claim the whole of Zodiark's gathered power.

Possibly their purpose is to trigger the same type of sound and calamitous effect the mysterious Sound did in the ancient world (seen some stuff based on the light energy spectrum and their reddish beams/the reddish nebula around the world in Amaurot dungeon to suggest that), and stimulate the fear/desire for salvation that in turn can give rise to "primal" battery energy. Though it's an interesting thought that perhaps the purpose of the primals is to be destroyed and act as aether-bombs, as it is very consistent with how they were used in Eden. An effective, fast way to transition the aether of an area and easy to bait a "primal slayer" into doing it, too.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
I hope that the reason Tiamat breaks out of her chains is due to Lunar Bahamut being the corpse of her beloved given new life, a last screw you to her to set her into a rage that finally overcomes her grief and despair, and not getting told off by Estinien over a fake version of her beloved.
I suspect Gaius is firing on Valens as he tries to flee after we destroy the weapon, the area surrounding Gaius looks like Welyt countryside we saw with Emerald weapon fight. I would prefer it if the male Au Ra lives as well as the female is clearly going to do something stupid and get in harm's way, and i suspect the male to protect her somehow and heroic sacrifice troupe, which I tire of at this point >_>
So Zenos has managed to walk out of the throne room, barely, still doing very little with him I see.
So we see the mystery light figure in front of the Keeper of the Lake, which is significant. We know this mystery character is going to have a big role in Endwalker, and we know that in Endwalker's 24-man we're going to be solving one of the big hanging myteries left on Eorzea. To me, that all points in one direction - whatever is hidden under Silvertear.

"Cold comfort to the folk who died gettin' us here. Still, this peace is ours, and we owe it to ourselves to make the most of it."
Lol couldn’t agree more with your second point. I’m just tired of seeing all of the guys dying and the girl always having to be protected. If she’s being dumb let her die for it !I hope that the reason Tiamat breaks out of her chains is due to Lunar Bahamut being the corpse of her beloved given new life, a last screw you to her to set her into a rage that finally overcomes her grief and despair, and not getting told off by Estinien over a fake version of her beloved.

I'm not shocked Zenos is doing little. This is all Fandaniel's scheme, not his. Zenos just fits into whatever Fandaniel's goal is.I hope that the reason Tiamat breaks out of her chains is due to Lunar Bahamut being the corpse of her beloved given new life, a last screw you to her to set her into a rage that finally overcomes her grief and despair, and not getting told off by Estinien over a fake version of her beloved.

Zenos may end up outliving Fandaniel, but for now Fandaniel is the one pushing the plot forward and is the 'big bad' actually doing things.
I'm assuming Fandaniel is the one who left that pile of weapons there for Zenos to take his pickings from as a means of further appeasing him, as it still seems to be within the royal palace.
I just hope his schemes aren't so short-sighted as to have not taken into account a potential betrayal and are not at all actually reliant on Zenos' cooperation.
If Riastrad is correct in what Fandango's scheme is in that he has to die for the full scope of his plan to come into play, he may be counting on Zenos doing exactly just that as a contingency plan.I'm assuming Fandaniel is the one who left that pile of weapons there for Zenos to take his pickings from as a means of further appeasing him, as it still seems to be within the royal palace.

Great for a Dark Knight quest, maybe. Not so good otherwise. The trope "This time ... it's personal" just doesn't work for Zenos.
