Honestly, if/when this content gets to that dying point, I'd say Bozja in general will suffer before anyone even makes it to DR, and it'll suffer far more than Eureka. CEs seem far more punishing without a sufficiently full group.

You can actually kind of see this now with the pyromancer detachment CE (Flames of War), where nobody runs it due to it giving lesser rewards (as it's one of the two half-capacity CEs). Since it's one of my favorites I always try to get people to run it when I'm in the instance, but I have always either ended up trying to solo it or end up having to leave because I'm not a tank and can't solo it. (It's theoretically possible to solo but you need an invul for the final detonation and you have no way of tracking when that detonation is due to not being able to kill the adds fast enough solo... assuming that final explosion can even be invul'd).

What tools did 11 use to coordinate parties that 14 doesn't have?
Either way, it doesn't matter that Discord didnt exist until recently. People used other voice chat software before Discord. It's not like Discord is really bringing anything new to the table.

How many newly-released savage-level duties have you cleared without using any third party applications?

I've never used a 3rd party application while clearing Savage.
I don't parse and I'm always in soloque riding the struggle bus.
3rd party software isn't necessary for clearing hard content.

Why is this relegated to forming groups on a third party application like Discord? The folks in these discords openly discuss third party tools, the exclusivity, and its just overall toxic. Why can't a group be formed outside of third party tools? We all know, if you create a party finder, unless you post in the toxic Discord groups it wont fill. This isn't fun, or working as intended.

You can form a group without using Discord if you want. Set up a Fellowship so messages get saved and things can be organized in advance then a linkshell for real time communication when all the group is online.

Discord is a lot more efficient for communication than the in game tools so it's natural for groups to use it for organization. You probably should get that chip off your shoulder.

Players have used third party apps for communication in MMOs for a couple of decades now. Teamspeak, Ventrilo, Skype, Mumble, etc. have been getting used at various times over the years. Instant Messager apps and online forums would be used in conjunction with the voice apps that didn't also have text chat incorporated so message could be left for those not currently online to read later. There's nothing new to it at this point. All that changes is what's currently the most popular app to use, which is Discord at this point in time.

If your point is that things can be done without the third party programs, my response would be players who focus on high end content value efficiency and the in-game tools are not efficient for organization.

DR Savage was made for one purpose and that is the no lifers in the game to have a place to bash their heads against pretty hard bosses. It is their playground and that is just how an MMO works. Expect rampant use of ACT and other apps with extreme elitism because that is the point of it.

They got screwed out of their Ultimate so this was the consolation prize.

Not sure which Discord group you used but I used Crystal's old BA group to get my clears. 1st time take like a month, a lot signs up, so didnt always make the roster, but nothing was ever expected of me other than the usual knowing your class, show up on time, and having the key lost actions. Folks used Act but not once saw someone get called out for it or low dps. Discord makes things far easier with explaining mechanics and call outs.

Yeah, I agree, it sucks. Discord is god-f cking-awful, and it’s basically necessary for DR Savage. It’s like the Reddit of chat services, everyone is a wiseass, everyone will make fun of you for the littlest mistake, mods are horrible, and the people aren’t much better, used it for years since it launched and it’s always the same.

Don’t use it much anymore nowadays, hope I don’t have too.

Inb4 literally anything about discord, “it’s not so bad”, “you’re generalizing things”, “don’t be so negative”, I came here to play FF14, not wad through the Internet equivalent of a open sewer, I’ve been there and done that and n o t h i n g will change my mind.

I've gotten some very very bad and creepy people on both Teamspeak and Skype. I'm not saying it isn't on Discord too, but let's not pretend here they aren't all the same at the end of the day.

Youre talking with people of all walks of life, throughout different parts of the country or the world - regardless of what form of media you use, theres going to be creeps. No matter what.

JPN has a different mindset, where trying to do your best and contribute to the team is expected and normal. Thus picking up randoms for difficult content works.

Over here, the mindset is more self centered and about what other players can do for you. Some players feel entitled to enter the content, play the way they want and feel no obligation to contribute. Thus Savage cannot function in DF and content like DR doesn't work well with randoms. Discord is the only way to find a full group who are actually willing to put effort into content that requires effort.
