Right, but Thaumaturge does not have to buy / make their mp pool. They simply put their weapon away to allow it to regenerate. In no way is this comparable.

Um, it does. Clicking "Refill" immediately refills your Ammo slot to 999 from your Inventory, assuming you have more of what you're equipping in your inventory. It does this even when you are engaged.

Keep an eye on your quiver on your back, if you see only 1 arrow hit refill... I like having ammo.

That said I like archer how it is.
less restrictive combo play a big role in archer damage. When the mobs moving around alot archers can continue to attack while other classes chase it to gain tp.

Arrows are expensive, but that is the life of an archer. The benefit is archers can do a lot of nice damage and neat things with arrows. Hopefully this makes it worthwhile.

It can be troublesome to run low on money to buy arrows. I'm an archer and stopped going out because I ran out of money. But when someone wants me to tag along I ask if they can give me some arrows, and they are usually quite happy to do so.

Maybe if you are in LS that wants to do some activity that requires arrows you can ask if the the party can help you cover the cost of the arrows. Does not seem unfair. They give me arrows, I give them dead monsters. Everyone is happy... except the monsters...

Gil in this game is easy to make anyway...
I've made millions since 1.20 rolled out and is with blowing through 4-5 stacks of arrows a day.

I don't believe that has to be the "normal" view of things for an archer, or any ammo based class for that matter. I only say this because I advocate balance and equal access when it comes to classes.

Many people have replied by saying "well I like the way it is." I understand that, but perhaps tell me why it wont work, or why you would not be keen on seeing ammunition removed from your gameplay experience.

The way I see it is the game is in constant flux and many things that people simply "like the way they are" may change. Classes are being rebalanced, basic game mechanics are being scrapped and redesigned. I think all of these features are up for being questioned at this point in development.

Maybe its just an ideology I am taking from other games I have played and wrongfully applying it here? Regardless I've seen both ammo, and ammoless systems [In MMORPG games] and as a result I lean heavily towards ammoless in respects to FFXIV [Or any MMORPG.]

    Otherwise, just a friendly discussion.

Yes, you are right. I guess it is when I run out of 1 type of arrow (I carry several varieties) that the Refill does not work and I have to go into the Gear menu to select a different type of arrow.

It is annoying but understandable I guess since the game doesn't know which arrows I want to equip.

If you think cobalt arrows are overpriced, I recommend pricing the materials. For example, typical mat prices on Fabul:

    cobalt ingots: 7k x99 = 693k
    chocobo feathers: 4k x99 = 396k
    rosewood branch: 3k x99 = 297k
    total cost = 1386k for 33 stacks = 42k/stack

That's if you are manually babysitting each synth. If you are mashing enter, you can expect a 10-15% net fail rate at R50, putting you at 1386k for ~29 stacks, or 47.8k/stack. (I imagine Hasty Hand would be even worse.)

Many arrow producers are selling arrows below cost.
