You want to continue using your house once per week while doing reclears and then keep it empty 6 days because you have nothing else to do?
You like empty housing districts with plots who have a empty garden for months?

I would have no problem to get 150k per week by just playing the game.

Well that's an assumption and a half.

5% a week tax means you buy your house two and a half times over, every single year. It'd cost 130,000,000 gil a year to own a Mist 5/35 after buying it for 50,000,000.

Even a decent small will cost 13,500,000 for your first year and 9,750,000 each year after.

There's already a tax on housing, it's called your sub.

    5% is just a example.
You can take any amount that is high enough to let people think about keeping the plot or not, without forceing them to farm money for multiple days.

And just because you pay a sub does not mean you should get everything without a tiny bit of effort.
You also have to farm new gear every time if you want to start a new savage.

Like 5% of the buying price per week.
So everyone who has a house but is not using it will think twice to keep it.
It will make it more difficult for botter to maintain a larger amount of plots.
And it will take a lot of money out of the system.
A fee would only hurt newer players. Or players with limited time to play that do not have the time to run everyset of roulettes everyday or run maps often etc . . .Plot horders like myself 5% is nothing.

Make it per month instead, else I totally agree, and also it is calculated from the max value of a plot of course, it wont hurt anyone, also it would be the ones that has been grandfathered that would need to work hard to keep their entire private wards... but that is only a good thing.

I log in almost every day to do some things. Not hurting for gil either, and I have a fully furnished medium plot. Still an absolutely terrible idea.

Obtaining a house is not a small feat. People put enough time, money and gil into their houses already. They've paid enough. Housing is not the same as Savage raiding either. Get over yourself.

It took me over a year to get a house and it took several months of work to get the money for it. I did not put in only a tiny bit of effort. At the time my server rarely had open plots.

EU may have a lot of open plots on certain servers now but NA...the shortage issue there is a huge problem. Savage raiding is actually more accessible than housing. All that a tax would achieve is make it even harder for new players to enjoy housing. But it seems some people don't care if their ideas would create a class divide. Maybe it's what they want. This tax suggestion is starting to look more and more like thinly veiled elitism.

That must have been years and years ago, by today you can if you put in a decent effort have 500K a week by doing technically little to nothing at all.

Doesn't matter how long ago it was. I still put in that work. I've paid my "tax" already.
