From July last year. Still nothing promising it coming to Xbox.

Thanks for doing the digging. Since Phil is the head of Xbox his word carries a lot of weight. And we know that they were being pretty accommodating with policies in regards to the porting process.https://gamingbolt.com/final-fantasy...me-on-xbox/amp

Yet, he is not square. He is not yoship. And he has only ever said "in talks" and "we'd like to". Never "it is coming" and certainly not "late 2020"
You assumed something based on a thing Phil said. That's on you.
And it just took 5 seconds to "dig" "ffxiv Xbox late 2020".
Google is an amazing tool.

"In addressing the press at X019, Spencer said, "I wanted you to know, rest assured that we will be bringing that game [Final Fantasy XIV] to Xbox. We have a great relationship with Yoshida-san [FFXIV director] and we’re working through what it means to bring [to Xbox] a cross-platform MMO that they’ve run for years.""
This literally insinuates that it will be coming.
Also I was in a work meeting, so I couldn't easily pull up my phone while I had to give a presentation.

Insinuates. No date, no promise. "we will bring it" not "we are bringing it"The head of a platform in direct talks with another publisher who has more knowledge said this.

Things change. That's was over a year ago, and in July, you see what yoship said. At least 7 months later.
It's clearly meant to be able to be read that way—because Phil is first and foremost a PR guy at his heart—hence the "we will be bringing" statement, but look closely: when it comes to anything concrete, he just says they have a good relationship with the producer and that they're working through what would be entailed."In addressing the press at X019, Spencer said, "I wanted you to know, rest assured that we will be bringing that game [Final Fantasy XIV] to Xbox. That there's not a port coming for Xbox One X when there is for PS5 is disappointing. But so far as I know, there was never an outright commitment by Square confirming an Xbox port (nor even actual confirmation that Microsoft has finished revising the policies necessary to make it happen), just talk about how it'd be nice. So it's not like this is a delay or pushback on a planned/promised port, just a "yes, we'd like to do that, and it's something we can look into after Endwalker is out."
No doubt Square-Enix would like to make it work as well, because more players means more revenue. But nothing in this says there was a firm commitment from Square to such a port, much less any sort of release date set.
I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.Originally Posted by Packetdancer

Eh, not really.
Unless it comes from SE ( Yoshida or the CEO ) them self, it don't carry much weight at all.

It literally does. Because these people would have more information then a PR rep or some low level employee. This is the head of one of the top three console platforms on the market
Again, that is only phil saying it. which could just be a PR stunt for all we know.
Unless SE confirms 100% that a Xbox version is being worked on, it means very little.
