As far as I know, the only AOEs that will affect non-combatants are the AoEs from the elite hunt marks. I've watched many players die to marks like the Mudman before they even have a chance to land and get on its enmity table, and one train 3 players AFK at the Duskbloom node in Amh Araeng got wiped out when Maliktender sent 990,000 Needles their direction.

Monster Player Kill. Basically it's using a game's combat NPC in such a way that it kills a player character that wasn't engaged with the combat (such as intentionally kiting a monster with a cleave next to a player engaged in another activity when there was no reason to kite the monster in the first place).

It's something many players like to do to bots if a game's mechanics will allow it but even if a bot it's generally still against TOS and can result in account action if reported.

Thanks Jojoya. However that is not correct. We just ran tests on it, the noncombatants take damage.

On which mobs? Because I've had other players in combat near me before when I wasn't without taking damage.\

Guess it doesn't really matter in either case. You're still in danger of account action if something happens and the other player chooses to report. SE doesn't not take MPKs lightly compared to some other MMOs.

always awesome how legitimate people playing the game are in more danger of being banned because of frustration at SE taking little or seemingly zero action against people breaking the rules, than the ones breaking the rules themselves.

dont get me wrong, I am under no illusions that life or games are fair, but this staggering inequality only adds to the frustration over this issue.

It is honestly so soul crushing seeing one of my friends get into endgame crafting, fall in love with it, and give up completely, ending up selling a piece at -30k gil profit. You honestly CAN'T win against the bots... and to the people that are arguing "oh, it's the way of life" or, "oh, if you don't like it don't play it", ya'll don't understand it in the slightest. Yes, that's the way of life, and yes !! I could easily just do dungeons all day and farm tome mats but you forget that ff14 was literally rebuilt on the back of criticism. So yes I'm going to complain and yes I'm going to continue to report!

Both would be breaking the rules. Bota are breaking the rules. Players engaging in MPKs are breaking the rules.

A better question is why they're more likely to act promptly on one type of offense than another. Is it because GMs have discretion in the case of MPKs and most other offenses but anything bot has to go through the STF?

Are you saying they sold at a loss of 30k, or that they made a profit of 30k?

Because if it's the latter, it's still profit and there's no mention of the other items your friend has crafted and sold. No one is going to be an instant millionaire selling a single crafted item. Crafting has become too easy so crafted items have become a lot more common. As long as you sell for more than what it cost to produce, you're ahead and it will add up over time with the more that you sell.

If someone wants to be an instant millionaire, they should be farming content that drops the truly rare items. I was pricing Orchestrion rolls over night and some of the ones from Bozja and the treasure map dungeons are still selling for close to a million gil each.

which again, proves that the STF is completely inadequate to the task at dealing with bots. period.
